We're in Sparks, NV for a bit, and noticed a puddle under the engine. This is the ISL370, with an engine build of July 2003. Traced the leak to a metal pipe, connecting to a right angle coupling coming out of the side of the block. It's engine coolant for sure. The coupling is on the passenger side, about 1/4 back from the front of the engine, and about 2-3" below the head.

It has a metal flange/nut around the tube to attach it to the right angle coupling out of the block. I don't have the proper tools to reach up to it from beneath, but will go buy or borrow some, if by tightening this flange/nut to the coupling, I have a good shot at stopping the leak. I don't know if their is a mini gasket or O ring type seal in side of this flange nut.

Any opinions on if just snugging things back tight would take care of this? Or if a gasket O ring might be involved?

TIA,

Smitty

Carefull..Every bolt on that engine must be torqued to manufacturer's specs.

Thanks David.

I was able to borrow a wrench that would reach in and fit the flange nut. Snugged it up about 1/3 of a turn, it was loose enough to move just as I was trying to get the wrench on it.

I would swag that due to the angle and lack of anything but using my hand and fingers on the wrench, that I put 20-30lbs on it.

Dried off the existing coolant, waited 90 mins, still dry. So then topped of the radiator tank with two gallons of 50/50 Final Charge, so it had been leaking for a bit.

We leave here 7/5, and I will recheck everything at the end of that days drive. If still dry, will call this one done.

And David - Next time I'm in the shop for any other reason, I'll have them loosen and torque things down to spec:)!

Best to all, fingers crossed that this is now OK,
