Hello Everyone,
I have a 2007 Country Coach Tribute and the entry steps suddenly stopped working. I entered the coach today and the steps worked fine. I've never had a problem. When I went to exit the coach, the steps failed to extend. While in the coach, I fired my generator and transferred the load to if from shore power for a short period. I typically do this on a weekly basis to ensure everything remains operational while the coach is unused. I transferred the generator load back to shore power before the problem occurred. I suspect my problem is related to the power changeover and electrical in nature.
Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Perhaps checking your door switch to make sure the 4 balls are not jammed and are all clean might help.

Check the wire bundle that passed from the side of the door into the door jamb. If any of those wires are broken (not an uncommon problem), that may cause your issue. My steps got goofy and I ordered a new wiring harness from Kevin Waite and, once installed, problem solved.

Had the same problem on mine. Turned out to be a dead spot on the motor. Solved with a good rap in the motor with a hammer.

Well, before you get too far into this project, I suggest taking a pencil eraser, and rubbing it vigorously over the 4 balls that make contact with the door. Spend about a minute doing this, and you may find that the door will activate the stairs just fine, once again. Over the years, this has happened to me more than once.

I had the same issue and the first fix was to grease the steps and that seemed to help for a month or two. After that they stopped again and this time it was the motor for the steps. I was able to locate the motor on Amazon for approx. $70.00 and that fixed it for good.

2007 country coach tribute. Had entry step problem last summer that was frustrating because they would work and then all of a sudden they would stop and the entry step would not extend. End result was it needed a new motor and no problems since.

Joe,
We had an issue with ours as well. It ended up being a frayed wire between the cab and the door switch. Our door check had broken and as a result the door opened further than its supposed to which caused the wiring harness to be stretched beyond its limits.

I just wanted to chime in I just repaired our steps from the opposite problem, would not retract.
Spent the weekend at our farm lake fishing. Went to pull out Sunday AM and the steps did not retract. Hit a post that holds the gate at the end of the lane and nearly ripped them suckers off. Found replacement slides at Amazon, spent a week heating and bending the steps back into shape. I know have a 12V LED on the dash tied into the plunger switch at the back of the steps. If they do not slide all the way in for some reason I will know. These steps are well built and heavy duty on our older rig.
