Th roof on our 1998 Intrigue needs a bit of TLC. It's in good condition, but there is some chalking and the clear coat is gone. Until we can have the coating replaced, we are investigating temporary options.
In the past, we've applied Mop 'n Glo, which has helped with chalking for short periods of time.
Any suggestions on UV protection products that are easy to use? We'd prefer to not crawl around on hands and knees rubbing the roof dry.

James,
I have used Bus Kote and am very pleased with the results. Eliminates chalking and insulates the coach. Not hard to apply but takes time. Generally, you would need to apply a primer, at least 2 coats of Bus Kote & 1 coat of sealer.

Thank you! Can this be applied with a mop?

The gel coat was coming off above my windshield. I used Poli Cote and from the ground it looks great compared to before .

No,
Apply with a paint roller---on a long handle keeps you from having to get on your knees. Google Bus Kote & review their recommendations.
Good luck,

Our 2003 Intrigue was leaving white residue tracks down the sides and we had tried acrylic floor sealant to solve the problem. It lasted about 2 years between coatings. 3 years ago we put on a white sealant for fiberglass and metal roofs that we found at Home Depot. Supposed to last for over 10 years and so far has been excellent. Side benefit is that the roof is much safer to walk on since it's rubberized. Had to scrub the entire roof first though and my dear wife did that job on her hands and knees. She's a keeper! ??

On our old Beaver Monterey we scrubbed the roof using Dawn dishwashing soap (leaves no film), rinsed, let it dry, redid seals as need, and painted it with fiberglass deck paint. Looked good 3 years later when we sold it.

We used a throwaway mop, yes. It spread quite easily and has shown no signs of peeling or chalking whatsoever.

We're on year 3 of Buskote, and like it so far. I feel the post that talked about fiberglass deck paint is spot on too. A good quality deck paint, perhaps with just a dash of grit to provide grip, would work well too.
Don't cheap out on the product. The labor is the same for any of these applications, with lots of prep work to get things right. Get a good two part deck. If I remember correctly, Interlux made a good quality deck seal.
I found this link that I had read when I was going to do the job myself, but the shop I work with said they'd do the Buskote at a price that made me happy to miss the work.:)! (My knees are not what they used to be...)

IMO, due the low traffic on an RV rooftop, a good quality prep, and good quality two part deck paint, should last a long, long time. And, help on the white streaking.
White streaking? Well with Buskote we no longer get 'white streaking' - but the rooftop's still accumulate grime and dirt, and that will still work over the edgers and down the sides. If I was doing this again, I would also add bead of sealant at all the way around the edge of the flat part of the rooftop, to leaving channels on four corners to allow built up moisture to run off. I believe this would cutback on many sides of the coach getting the rooftop flow down, and concentrate it away from the windows and windshield.
Best of luck to you on this, and let us know what way you go and how you like it after a period of time!

Hello Smitty,
I have an 04 Allure Newport and was wondering if you could share with me the name of the company that did your Buskote RV roof. Would you also send it via private email to jrth15@.... I would like to be able to share more info with you on our 04 Allure's. Thanks.
