Hi all, I am in Mountain Home Idaho heading south to Ogden and then Torrey Utah. If course it is Labor day and it appears I have an issue with shore power. Might be contacts on the shore cord reel, or the transfer switch. I am without power unless I use the generator. ( or inverter) Any suggestions for a repair facility or mobile tech around here? Thanks,
Rosemary Mancillas

Maybe tryanother pedestal? Or it could be the transfer switch? You might try banging with your fist on the transfer switch box?

I tried another pedestal. Not getting 120 juice to the microwave or refer either, now on generator. :( I don't know where the transfer switch is.
The AC units were working though, on generator. NOTHING on AC... got that "reverse polarity" warning even though it was fine when I got here. This is a very nice and well kept park. 2 pedestals no way.. Echo charger doesn't seem to be working either. no charging with generator on.
It's a mystery. Going to be cold tonight with no heat pump.

If you have hydronic heat (Hurricane/Aquahot) it should provide good heat on battery power

The "reverse polarity" bothers me and indicates a pedestal problem to me, but... My transfer switch is located in the br closet on the passenger side. It's a 10"x10" silver box above the surg gaurd in my coach. With the gen ac power off and ped ac poestal wer on, try banging on it to jar loose the transfer switch to revert to ac shore power. Might t even try a hammer, but not real hard as in to dent the metal. If that works, you will need to have the transfer switch itch looked at. It transfers AC electrical power between generator and pedestal, with generator having priority if both are applied at the same time.

Try Gem State Generators 208-888-4061. Don't remember his name but he was very helpful on my generator problem last year while in Boise.
Good luck.

I would recommend the following
1. Remove all load from the circuits, I.e. Ac, lights and so on
2. Exercise the breaker at the pedestal, flipping it and of a few times. Leave the breaker off.
3. Connect the land line
4. Flip the breaker on
5. Watch the surge protector lights and wait for a few minutes for the system to sync to shore power. Should hear a mild bang.
Hopefully this works, once I had to get the park to reset the breaker to a bank of pedestals, then I could sync to the supply. mark

Thanks Mark,
I will try that in the AM. But I think my transfer switch is toast. It is not transferring power proper to all circuits in the coach , nor to the charger when the generator is running. But I did not try that particular timing, so I will try once more. The park actually had to reset the "bank " of two pedestals, after they found an open neutral that had been fried. :( I don't think the are going to offer to pay for my transfer switch, do you? :(
I think I am going to order another one tomorrow, just a matter of from where... and what kind. And drive down to my destination where I know the tech and it should arrive there about the same time as I do, in two days. I will just have to do without power and the batteries will charge on the road. I will probably have to beg a small heater from someone to cover the cold nights now. But I will manage.
This trip has been an adventure in reprimand... LOL C'est la vie.

I actually have a Webasto, which is great, but I am concerned my batteries are too low to run it. If they get below a certain point, it can cause problems. Remember I have not been able to charge my batteries up. I don't need that to add to my other problems. So I plugged in a small space heater ran an extension cord outside.
Thanks, Rosemary

On my Magna the transfer switch is in the foward run bay behind the removable panels of the front pass thru bay. It is to the right of the surge protector. There is a big grey box that says danger high voltage. The black box just below the grey box say power switch.
Hope this helps
Glad to see you out traveling again..

One you may be able to do is hook a small battery charger to the house batteries while plugged into a cord and help keep the batteries up that way.

I found it yesterday. It feels good to be on the road , however this has been a bit of a trip from hell. Started out, got the flu, then food poisoning, lost time and visits with friends because of scheduling, then my refer went, now this campground had an open neutral and I don't know the extent of the damage yet. OY.
Otherwise the time on the the road has been fun! LOL
PS. did I mention this was the year for colonoscopy, etc?? HAHA.. Been an amusing trip to say the least. But I got my blackberries ! Can't get those in Tucson. My freezer is stuffed full.
Sure miss the old group, and our great reunions with all the seminars.
