No signal on DirecTV from TrackStar System. Haven't had cause to use the TV for some time. It has not been working; called DirecTV and got nowhere. Now I am told that there may be a need for a fix or change to the TrackStar system caused by a change in DirecTV. Any help in defining the fix is appreciated.

so many variables.
apologies for the basic questions but that's where we start if we can't get a signal:
Is anything in the way of the horizon? Any bad weather south or southwest of your location? Is the TV on channel 3?
Is the Winegard distribution box on satellite? What receiver do you have?
I would shut off power to the TV and satellite system and turn it back on. We use the breaker in the bedroom.
Are you getting an error message on the screen? If it's been over 30 days since you used the receiver you get locked out. You can reboot the receiver online. Directv should have done that for you when you called.
How old is the receiver? We had one go bad.
We also had the LNB in the TracStar die and it had to be replaced.
Here are the instructions for a system test: Follow these steps to run the diagnostics system test on your DIRECTV® Receiver:
1. Turn on your TV and the DIRECTV® Receiver.
2. Slide the mode switch to the DIRECTV position to put the remote control in satellite receiver-controlling mode, then press MENU.
3. Select "Parental, Fav's & Setup."
4. Select "System Setup," then "Info & Test."
5. Select "Run System Test". For Standard-Definition receivers, press GREEN on your remote, then select "Run Test".
6. If your system does not pass the System Test, check any of these potential trouble areas: cabling, pointing the satellite dish, and access card.
Where are you located? Maybe someone on this forum can recommend an RV satellite technician.
There is one in Oregon and one in Houston TX that others have used. Our satellite technician in Houston Sats2Go.com said that the TracStar was a well built system and that we should repair it.
DirecTV is useless for RVers. TracStar no longer supports RVers.

I to have an old Trackstar system. When I got mine, it did not work, so I went upstairs and took the dome off. The first thing that was obvious was the drive belt was off. Put this thing back on but it still did not work. Kept getting an Hz fault reading. Got in touch with a guy that I found on the internet and he told me to check the little micro switches. There are two, one for the vertical up, one for the vertical down. The switches both checked good but neither ones activator was touching the dish .I adjusted the switches, ran it through the set up sequence and it then locked right on to the Direct TV satellite.and has worked since.

All good questions but all have been checked.
I have two TVs and both went out at the same time. I do get a error from DirecTV that it cannot see a signal.
Tried several places and states, no trees, weather etc. I had DirecTV reboot the systems with no success. We did run the diagnostic for the receiver; it is working properly. A friend of mine at the park has the same exact problem. It is certainly a sudden incompatibility with the DirecTV broadcast and the TracStar System. Was hoping someone the same problem and had the fix...
Good idea to shut down all the power and try it again. I will try that when I get back to my coach after Thanksgiving. Thanks.

According to the literature I have, there is an update available and in order to update you need to contact Trackstar and they wtll send the computer to you to do the update, and then you send it back once the update is completed, but since this company is out of business that will be hard to do .Try this .I called R V SATELLITE SYSTEMS @... guy that answered the phone there was extremely gracious about helping me get mine going. Hope this helps!!

Our satellite "guru" in Houston, www.sats2go.com (http://www.sats2go.com) (Dave) did update our software the last time we had our system worked on. He is specializes in RV satellite install and repair and does quality work at reasonable prices. He knows TracStar inside out. His number is 281-564-2828. We don't allow anyone but him to work on our satellite system.
you can try Cobham in Orlando FL. They did TracStar support and helped us 2 years ago. contact info at the bottom of the webpage link below.

Lonny. I had to replace my trackstar with a King Dome unit I chose a SD unit and it Tracks in motion much better than the trackstar Bob 12047 06 Intrigue.

Back in September a member of this site posted this about the same problem you are having:
the first time we turned on Directv after ATT bought them, it downloaded a new software(which has the ATT logo along with Directv on the screen when you first turn it on). after that it would not lock on the satellite so we did a 0 recallabrate wide scan or whatever it is called. Still wouldn't work, and about 30 minutes later it came on....I was like WTF? anyway, we stopped for fuel, and while under the overhang, we lost the satellite as usual, so as we started driving again, we tried to reset it......didnt work again......left it on and about 45min later it started working again.......after searching some different forums, i found that Newsom electronics is the only guy supporting these Sat dishes we have......called him up and already knew what we needed......he has a software upgrade that will solve the problem, but he has to send you the adapter you need to install it..im on a waiting list and could be 2-3 weeks. he is a little hard to contact, i had to call a few times....super nice guy, just think he is a one man show. good luck
