This is new to us, been towing Jeeps for 20+ years and this is the first with an electronic transfer case. If I do all the steps in the manual it seems to go into Neutral and rolls freely. BUT the manual says that the EVIC in the dash will say the 4WD is in neutral. NOTHING appears on the EVIC. I've seen on the web that the manual was wrong but I don't want to hurt the Jeep. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks.

Linda,

We have a 2012 GC Overland and have been towing it since we bought it in 2012.
Have had no problem with towing it in any way.
Can't say we have had no problems with the rest of the vehicle, but that is a competely didn't thing.

Does anything show up in your dash messages? The manual says a message shows there, but I get no message. It seems to be in Neutral. I can hear it making noises.

Thanks.

No.. I can not remember anything showing up on the dash area. I will check tomorrow and let you know if mine shows anything. As yours, our also makes noise as it goes into neutral and makes noise when we take it out of the neutral position to normal driving. It lets us know that we have completed the process correctly.

Linda,

went through the process twice and there was no message(s) on the dash.
No extra lights or indication either. Only the red light on the shift console when it is in neutral (which it should be). I listen for that shifting noise when putting it in neutral and taking it out of neutral.
Hope this helps.

Dave

Thanks. I had heard the manual was wrong but wanted to be sure.

Safe travels.
