Rich:  Of course Dometics catch fire. Google - Dometic refrigerator fires images. It gets pretty ugly.

Sorry.  s/Terry Apple

I had a problem with temperature. Found that the fridge light was always on. Switch was good. Ended up that ambient temp switch was in on position.
Turned off problem went south.

Hi Bo & Kathy,

I don't know about the Dometic side by side, but the Norcold side by side that was in our 06 Inspire was pretty close to the right sized opening and size for the Samsung 3 door residential refrig that most of the folks I'm aware of here on our blog have installed. My husband and a dear friend who is a carpenter installed ours. Mike just told me that Don did have to cut about 6 inches of the wood above the Norcold out, and then made trim pieces. They had to move the plug in the back of the refrig over a bit in order to have access to it. Two clips screwed to the floor were put in to lock the wheels of the Samsung in place. I'm happy to find out more details if you'd like. We are so happy with this refrigerator that it gets complimented a lot!

Measure your space and check at Lowes, they have models that will fit. Barrie Boas 94 Concept 5111

See if the little slide thingy on the fans inside the refer part of the refrigerator may have gotten moved down during cleaning etc. Moving this slide up will make your refrigerator colder.

Last year I replaced my Norcold with the Samsung RF18 in my 2005 Inspire.
The only space modification I had to make was to lower the floor 11/2". That allowed me to keep the drawers under the frig.
The Norcold can't compare to Samsung's ability to hold a constant temperature in both the refrigerator and freezer, it's larger capacity and safety.
I did not upgrade my batteries or my MSW inverter, and all works well.
We are so glad we made the change.
