We have found out that "Banging" on our Norcold cooling system to loosen the blockage only helps for a few days. Time to replace the Norcold. Have questions for those who replaced their Norcolds with a residential fridge. The DW ask if the Samsung residential fridges are rated for RV use? I told her that I have not seen any info put out by Samsung stating that they were. Of course her next question was "Why would we want to do that then?" I could use a little help here.
Also, How long have you had the residential fridge and have you had any problems with it? Did you do the installation yourself or did you have it done by a shop? If by a shop, which shop? Sorry for so many questions, but we are trying to make an intelligent decision.

Thank You

Great questions! We replaced our Norcold 2 or 3 years ago with the Samsun that most folks have used. It's great! I could use so many exclamation points with that statement. I don't know if it's RV rated, but I don't think that matters, or at least it didn't to us and we've had many trips with everything going great. My husband and our dear friend who is a carpenter installed it. It was not a tough job. We opted to leave the drawers on the bottom of the space and install the Samsung above them which meant Don the carpenter cut out about 6 inches of the wood frame that had been above the Norcold. He also made some trim pieces so that it all looks great. You're smart to be asking questions. Good luck.

We had our Norcold replaced last year by Oregon Motor Coach. Professional job and not that expensive. Looks just like it came from the factory.

I replaced My Norcold one year ago with the Samsung RF18 series. My DW & I love it. Soooo much better than the Norcold.
I installed it myself, not a hard job if you are a DIY kind of person.
I don't think any residential refrigerator manufacturer rates their products specifically for RV use.
The Samsung has a long history of working fine in RV use.
There are many appliances in your motorhome that are not specifically rated for motorhomes. Your microwave is an example of one of them.
