Our 2007 intrigue came with a Pioneer System that had a (poor) GPS map system in it. The Pioneer one day "lost its memory" and according to the Pioneer help desk the only way to reprogram the memory was to buy another updated set of GPS maps (which we didn't even use). The GPS maps weren't even available (original model had maps that were delivered on a DVD and "installed") the map company now only does downloads to a flash drive. I didn't want to mess with dowloading and transferring to a DVD-RW disc that may or may not be compatible with a Pioneer system. So I went and bought a Kenwood system that is modern, has bluetooth, phone, XM, Pandora, etc. Doesn't have a map, but I have my Magellen unit for that. Install went fine, no problems at all EXCEPT, the back up camera starts fine when the Kenwood is turned on, switches from rear to side view with the panel switch as well as with the turn signal. After about 10 minutes or so while under way, while monitoring the rear camera, Kenwood gives me a blue screen with "Lost Signal" on the rear camera and then one of the side camera views comes up. THe LEFT side camera is always the camera that comes up so I'm assuming that is the next camera in the sequence. After awhile (not a set time, but random anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour) the rear camera will come back on but only stay on for a random period of time and then drop out again. Restarting the Kenwood systerm or manually cycling through cameras using the dash rocker switch does not re-enable the rear camera.

I don't think this is the Kenwood's fault, There is only one video input. On my coach, the camera leads all end up in the dash behind the driver's dash. Removing the top panel exposes all of the video stuff. The rear and side cameras come into a box via a black round OEM plug. The boxt has a bunch of chinese characters on it. ALso coming into the same box are several colored wires that terminate in a flat plug that plugs into the box. One RCA cord comes out and goes to a splitter that has 4 outputs on it. One output goes to the Kenwood and the other (I assume) goes to the rear TV as a separate Input. I've used a 3rd output and run a line to my Magellan unit.

I"m assuming that the chinese box is the switcher, taking the signal from the rear and side cameras (Black Plug) and does the switching (using inputs provided by the wires coming in (rocker circuit, reverse lamp circuit) SInce I'm getting signal that is good and solid and doesn't drop out from the side cameras I don't think it is the chinese box or the kenwood radio system. I'm thinking its the splitter. Each input on the splitter has a separate "gain" screw. Interestingly, I also used one of the extra outputs off the splitter and ran another video line to my Magellan unit, It's very high resolution and I use it for backing up into a tight space where I realliy need to see what I"m doing, WHen plugged into the Magellen, its not switchable to GPS so I don't use it all the time. I have the same problem with signal dropping on the rear camera when feeding to the Magellan GPS unit. I'm going to take the cover off the dash again and turn up the gain and see if that fixes it, but if anyone else has had this problem, let me know. I'll let you know when I solve the problem. The Kenwood unit is a KVT-7012BT. I ordered it from Amazon Amazon.com: Kenwood KVT7012BT 7.0" WVGA 1-DIN DVD Receiver: Cell Phones &...
