It may be that the stitching for a center seam has failed after 10 years. Anyone have this kind of problem? If yes, did you manage to repair? What did you do?

Try a hot glue gun.

The sunbrella fabric that is used on most of our coach awnings lasts much longer than the stitching that is used to hold it together. I have had to remove the fabric from my toppers, It's easy to do. I have then takin them to a repair shop and had them re-stitched. You should get a lot more life out of them at that point.

I took our Carefree Omega II slide topper/awning combo fabrics off and had a San Diego area sailmaker restock them. Wherever you go, be sure they use UV protected thread:)!
We then cleaned the material, let it dry, and while it was laying on our grass, sprayed the top and bottom with canvas waterproofing.
These lasted us another 6 years, before we finally replaced them at age 12 with the new fabrics from the great company out of Florida:)!
Our main awning, the not so great Carefree Mirage, awing is still doing well. Have never removed it, or had the threading replaced. We did wash it well about four years ago, and then when dry, as the wife extended out a few feet at a time, I sprayed the canvas waterproofing on it. (Seemed like I should have bought a case of the stuff!!). I figure ours should last for ever, as we find the awning next to useless except for minor winds conditions, and usually with 10:00AM - 2:00PM time sun, as other time of the day the non adjustment of the angle makes the awning pretty useless for other lower sun angles. And rain? Maybe we can get 10-20 minutes under the awing in a light rain, before it fills up too much. In heavier rains, we just put the chairs away, and go back into the coach, as the awning is again useless in heavy rains usage conditions...
Best to you, and all,
Smitty
