Hi Dick,
Just push the bail located above your ice tray to the "up" position.
This will keep the ice maker from producing any more ice, and no more current drain.
I run both A/Cs when the weather is warm, or both heat pumps when cool. Depending on the circumstances, turn the thermostat way up or down. You could also just use the convection side of the microwave.
Something close to 1/2 load for the generator is fine.

(Dick asked about shutting off the reefer's icemaker)
I know that works, but it makes it inconvenient to use the ice tray for frozen veggies, etc, with the bail in the raised position. I was hoping for a convenient alternative. The icemaker info sheet shows an on/off valve ahead of the solenoid, but CC elected to not install one. Go figure. Maybe I will.
But I'm looking for a solution when the weather is "in between," like here at Key West right now. It's not cold enough for the heat pumps and not warm enough for A/C. I guess I'll do as I did with our old Minnie Winnie ... plug a 1500W electric heater into the storage bay outlet and set the heater outside so it can help to warm up the great outdoors . I'll use the TV/sat system and other things to help make up the difference.

Hi Dick,
You can also unplug the icemaker from the outside. If you remove the outside refrigerator access panel, you will see two duplex recepticles on the upper left. One outlet is dedicated to the AC side of the refrigerator, the other is for the icemaker. You may need a short ladder to see the labels on the recepticles, so you can see which is which.

Don't you have the electrical cord connection in the rear compartment (outside)? Just pull the plug and leave the bail arm down and out of the way.

(Dick wants to disable his icemaker, so it won't work when the wire bail is down ... )
Nope. There's only one plug into the duplex outlet. Your suggestion probably applies to icemakers that are separate from the refrigerator.

Dick -
Funny your ice maker doesn't have a separate plug - my '98 Allure has a Dometic and it's two plugs. You can probably look in the back of the fridge and locate the wires that run up to the top where the ice maker is located - should be only one set heading that direction. I suspect you can track them back to a connecter that simply splits off some power from the plug for the refrigerator. They will probably be spade plugs you can just unplug. I had to unplug mine because of to much frost and it jammed (too lazy to defrost yet!).
We'll be running down to Key West from Marathon next week for lunch with friends - keep warm!

There is *no* separate plug for the reefer's icemaker, either in the outside access compartment, or indicated in the reefer/icemaker's installation instructions, which I finally looked at. There is a black box on the refrigerator's rear surface where wires protrude, ending up at the icemaker solenoid. I assume there's a transformer inside the black box. Regardless, I've disconnected the two wires from the solenoid and taped the ends.
Voila! No more ice making, even with the wire bail down!
Oh, we are. Temps are in the upper '70s today, so it is a little chilly .
There's some great restaurants in Key West, if you don't already know. Even for us (vegetarians). And some of the best pizza anywhere!

Glad you found it! I was surprised lifting the bail didn't totally shut mine down either but I could just unplug it.
We're meeting friends from home (NJ) in Key West who want to take us to a place on an island about 100 yards off shore - Sunset something maybe???
Enjoy,

Sunset Key ... and you take a free launch to get there from the Mallory Square area. Bring a lot of money in case you want to buy property .
And plan to watch the sunset, which is reportedly more beautiful than anyplace else folks have been. I know that *we* love it!
If you're in town this week, stop at Sloppy Joe's some evening between 10-2 to hear "Animal House," our son's band. We were there last night and the place was jumping.
The guys in the band haven't seen our Country Coach yet, and I hope I can get them on the Navy base so they can see it since, at the time I write this, we're ~100' from the Gulf's edge. Life's tough . We're apparently the only Country Coach here, by the way, out of ~500 rigs.
