The display in the Pioneer combo unit in the dash of our 2005 Magna is getting progressively more dim. It is the original equipment as installed at coach build. This unit comes out and flips up when the dash home switch is turned on. Just below the display, the XM tuner is located. In our case the camera display default is the rear camera, but it switches to either side camera by the turn signal operation.
Below it in the center console panel is the Silverleaf display.
I think I remember from past postings that others had replaced this unit with a Kenwood #DDX9902S.
Two problems;
That unit has been replaced by a Kenwood #DDX9903S and that unit is a double height unit and therefore too tall to fit into current opening.
There is not enough space between the top dash rim and the top of the Silverleaf to enlarge the opening to accept the replacement unit.
A local stereo shop has told me the only Kenwood option is a model KVT-701BT and some special part for the XM. They have said they expect to have issues in adapting the old wiring and other equipment to the new unit If anyone on the forum has replaced their unit, please supply the Brand & model you used. Please also list any additional parts or pieces needed for the install. From experience I am sure this will result in $$$$$$$$.
When pressed, they gave a preliminary estimate of $1000. equipment. parts and labor (worst case).
I welcome any comments or information.

Here is an option for you.
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020NZ503/Clarion-NZ503.html?tp=5684
This unit has built in navigation, an input for your camera, and is compatible with a SiriusXM tuner. If you don't already have a tuner, that would be extra. I dealt with Crutchfield a lot back in the early 1990's and had many good experiences.
Im not sure how the multi view camera system works so you would need to check on that.

Hi Brent,
The original Pioneer AVIC radio in our dash died about 2 months after we bought our coach, so about 8 months we replaced our single DIN Pioneer in-dash original unit with a single DIN flip-up screen Kenwood KVT-7012BT (https://www.amazon.com/Kenwood-KVT7012BT-WVGA-1-DIN-Receiver/dp/B00UVWC34I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1497119335&sr=8-1&keywords=KVT-7012BT). This unit fits in the same space and is the same size as the Pioneer AVIC unit.
The KVT-7012BT handles the original camera feeds (L,R turn and backup) from the original camera video switch box and has AM, FM, and Sirius prep all you need is the free plug in Sirius receiver. Since this unit has bluetooth and it is compatible with both iPhone and Android, you also get hands free cellphone which works great when I'm backing in somewhere and my wife and I talk on the cell phone when needed. It also plays my iPhone music and Pandora from my iPhone - although sometimes all of these features can make it confusing, it does a lot of good things.
The KVT-7012BT does not do navigation and I did not want it to do navigation because I don't want my cameras and my navigation competing for the same screen time - I like a separate Garmin navigation unit stuck on the drivers window for my viewing pleasure whenever I want to look at it - and it works well. Another reason I did not want navigation; in my opinion most of the radio manufacturers navigation is substandard and many charge for updates while the Garmin and Magellan units seem to work very nice.
When I installed the KVT-7012BT it was a direct fit into the dash and I just unplugged wires out of the Pioneer Unit and plugged them back into the KVT-7012BT. Then I installed the ands free microphone on the dash and removed all the old Pioneer stuff for navigation and other wires no longer needed and buttoned it up and all works fantastic.
There is one thing though - I need to call Kenwood - I would like to set the default home screen to be my backup camera feed. Currently I have to push the large volume button on the left side to bring the rear view camera up after I have used the turn signals and those camera feeds have displayed because the default seems to be the audio menu, and I don't know how or even if it can be changed to default to the rear view camera.
The sound out of the KVT-7012BT is great and the price is cheap at $338.99 from Amazon.
If I can answer any other questions, feel free to send me an email...
