So...we're in the UP of Michigan, fairly remote, and appears our Amana fridge has died. We did find an appliance repair person who the compressor is shot along with something else and recommends replacing the fridge. Wondering if anyone has had to do this and if so, what they replaced it with and how you got the old fridge out and new one in? Side window or windshield? Any input from anyone who has had a similar experience appreciated!!

Cori, you can read my article with pictures on how we did this in the December, 2015, Country Coach International eNews. Go to http://countrycoachclub.com/ and click on the eNewsletters Tab to find that issues PDF download. The Samsung unit we installed seems to be the Group's most popular choice.

I have the Amana side by side in my CC PREVOST . The refrigerator after sitting for some time before we bought it, refused to hit a lick..Got a repairman out and he got it to working again. According to him, if the compressor was running smoothly the compressor was probably good. Turned out that it was a cooling fan on ours. Seems if this doesn't work, it won't let the compressor come on, but to answer your question, when I thought we were going to have to replace the refer,I measured every opening on that coach and the only way that the old one was going to come out and a new one to go in even wit the doors removed, is through the ps windshield. A royal PITA. I think if a person could find a wrecker company that had one of the newer smaller wreckers with the extendaboom, they could lay the refer down and reach in there and get it. Now I haven.t tried this my self as yet .t this was the avenue that I was going to explore. If your compressor is shot, I believe that I would go for the repair .M y repair man said that these old Amana's were about as close to bullet proof as you could get.
