One of my electric window blinds fell out of its brackets. Looking at the pieces that hold it to wall, I think I need some new parts. I have managed to get it back up, but it is not right, the motor clicks/clunks, the blind axle is not rotating smoothly. Anybody know who makes these, or where you can find the little parts for them? Or a website with diagrams of how it is all supposed to fit together?

Greg,

I would try Kevin Waite first. If he does not have it, he will know where to find and get it.
Here is his info....

I fixed it. It was very simple. The window blind is a tube, and inside the tube on the idler end of blind is a rotating axle, but it had been pushed too far in. I just pulled it out a little with some needle nose pliers, and it holds and works like a champ again. I also discovered how to set the limit switches on motor with the two little black and yellow buttons (press with small screwdriver to adjust). Also those buttons must be facing down when you reinstall blind to get the proper orientation and then it is quiet. The motor end axle does not rotate, and it needs to be placed in the hanging bracket horizontally to get the blind orientation right. It is really a pretty slick system once you play with it a little.

I did find in my research, the blind is made by Hunter Douglas (thanks to Debbie), and it is driven by a Somfy motor. Both service departments were very helpful. The problem is, there are hundreds of HD blinds, so to find the correct diagram or part is very challenging. It is easier to just fix what ever is broken yourself than try to find the right part.

Now on to the next project!

Are you still working on your couch? You're supposed to be having fun! Remember every hour of working on your couch requires two hours of TLC back to your wife for forgiveness

Hi Greg,

I have the install manual for the blinds and I've ordered new end caps. Amazing how well they work after that. I'm at a retreat until tomorrow evening, I'll send you the manual and my source info when I get back...

Hooray Greg you fixed it. In the meantime you educated the rest of us on another nagging problem. I too have one shade that always comes down a little short. I'll be looking for the two buttons that control the up and down limits.

And yes Mike, I'm sure we would all like to have a manual for the shades in our coaches. Consider posting it on the forum for all to share..

I had 3 blinds that weren't working when I bought my coach and naively I thought how hard can this be to fix, I'll take care of it... After getting an estimate of $325 per window from the original supplier I decided to do some research. I found out that my blinds use the SOMFY LT28A Motor Assembly $135.00 each, and Somfy LT28 Idler End Cap #9013933 $2.85 each, available from http://floridaautomatedshade.com.

When I disassembled one of the blinds, to see what part I needed, I found the idler end cap had pushed inside and was not working properly to allow the blind to rotate and it was just jammed. I pulled it back out to the correct location and anchored it with two small blobs of silicone adhesive on the wings in the tube - if it was a bad idea, it would be easy to remove. Lo and behold the blinds all worked perfectly and all I needed to do was adjust the travel.

I did find a SOMFY installer manual that contained some info on the LT28 and a shade installer manual that also helped me with what the parts were and how to prepare them for install or in essence if I needed to repair these, what they needed to look like. These manuals also had the instructions for adjusting the travel. I've attached both files to this email, I don't know if this will get them to you, so if it doesn't work I'll upload them to the forum docs.

I may be crazy, but I like the Vienna roller shades that do daytime privacy and nighttime privacy in one shade. But, I did have to clean the bugs and dust out of the blinds with compressed air... Is there a better solution?

Best regards,
Mike
