Anybody know where the wire that feeds electricity to the radiant heated floor in the front of coach is located? Where it enters under the tile? I replaced my thermostat, but still have a short (throws GFI on thermostat). I am not going to tear up tile to fix it, but if I could look at where the wire is routed under the tile, maybe that joint (wire/tile) is the problem. The rear floor heat, on a separate thermostat, works fine,

Gold Heat has a tool which locates the area of the short if it is in the tile.

Does anyone know what the red light on top of the Gold Heat thermostat indicates? My rear thermostat has had this light come on several times. The floor still heats. If I turn the breaker off and turn it back on the light goes off.

That is the GFI in the thermostat. That's my problem, there is a short somewhere that throws that GFI, I cannot reset it. Maybe yours is on last legs, or maybe replace thermostat ($150, Amazon). Honeywell makes the thermostat now, Goldleaf is out of biz.

Really? Do you know where I can find such a tool? Gold leaf appears to be out of business.

Google Aries Engineering. They are the manufacturer of Gold Heat. Jim Cooley at OMC has their contact information. He borrowed the tool from them last fall to locate the break in my floor heat. He also installed a new thermostat as I was having a similar problem. Warm floors is a good thing when temps fall.

Thanks Dave, I see they are still alive and well. In addition to Country Coach, they are doing Marathon, Newell and Foretravel. Nice!

So I did a little research and found Aries Engineering (503 848 6190), like Dave said, and spoke with their tech desk. He was very familiar with the Gold Heat applications for Country Coach (they also do Prevost Marathon, Newell and Foretravel, so nice crowd...). He gave me some troubleshooting tips, but alas my front heat mat is terminal. Anyway, for you guys if you have problems, he said often times the mat gets wet, and needs some extra help to dry it out. To do so, wire an extension cord to the load wires, plug it in, and see if floor heats up. If it does, let it cook for sometime to dry it out really well. My floor did not heat, so he had me check resistance in mat (10-20 ohms desired). What sunk me was a ground fault test, testing continuity from the white load wire to ground, and I had continuity, so I have a ground fault. They would rent me the tool to find the break under the tile, but I declined. I am not going to rip up tile. My heated floor for galley/bath still works fine, so I am ok. Pretty cool tech desk though, very helpful.
