I'm trying to locate the start solenoid on my 2000 Magna, CAT C-10. Not the ignition solenoid in the front run bay. I believe it is in the engine compartment but I have no idea where it is located. Any help will be appreciated.

We have a 2000 Affinity with C12. Ours is located inside the right rear bumper. Odd location.

Pete,
It should be on the right rear. If you look up, maybe on your back, you will see it along with a 30 amp fuse. If you are asking because there is no start- check the fuse and holder before you condemn the solenoid. The holder corrodes away along with the fuse.

Thanks for the quick replies. My start solenoid is indeed under the right rear corner and mounted to the exterior of the rear wall of the rear compartment.
This forum comes through again !!!
Lately, it sometimes takes a second twist of the key to the start position to get the starter to activate. I'm assuming the problem is with the start solenoid, or now that I know, the 30 amp fuse. At least, I'm hoping that if there is a problem that it is not the starter.

Check all your chassis battery cables ..... make sure they are clean and tight. My experience is that 90% of my problems seem to be power sensitive.

Pete...........My start solenoid is mounted (just below the rear tailights) on the exterior of the rear wall of the last PS bay that houses the fuel filter. I had to replace it last year.

Double key start sounds more like ignition solinoid. Happened to me a few times on my prior '96 Intrigue. Jim Veen, prior #10299.

On my Cummins engine, I accidently learned that the ground connection on my Ignition Solenoid was the culprit.
Try making a temporary new ground connection from the Ignition Solenoid. Cheap and easy fix if that is the problem.

Solenoid is located in the engine compartment on the far right side (Curb side) between the bumper and the air cleaner bulkhead above the mud flap.. You can reach it from under the couch..
Hope this helps.
