Hi all,

Just turned on both heat pumps to take the chill off. They ran for about 5 minutes and both shut off before reaching temperature. I raised temps on thermostat and they won't kick on. I put fan on low speed and it kicked on, but no heat. Any suggestions? Thank you! Guess I can run furnace, but need to troubleshoot heat pumps.

Same problem when trying to run the a/c. I can put fans only on thermostat and the fans run, but when on heat pump or cool, nothing works. I appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks.

How old are the units (original)? How many amps are they drawing? Which thermostat are you using (4 button or upgraded 5)? The age of your coach puts you past the time for replacement.

Had new upgraded 5 button thermostat put on last year. They also had to upgrade the boards on both heat pump units. Will check amps. Other than the upgrades, yes the units are original.

Sounds very much like compressor is locked out on internal thermister, usual cause is bad capacitor

After many years of chasing the same symptoms, testing wiring, replacing the thermostat, I read somewhere that a florescent light nearby will prevent the A/C from cooling. No effect on the fan. Whenever my A/C stops cooling I turn off the florescent light (for me the one in front of the refrigerator) and cooling compressor starts working.

Hope that's is all yours needs.

Very puzzling. Pulled RV out of storage and drove it for about 20 miles and heat pumps kicked on and working perfectly on both heat and air now.

maybe house batteries not fully charged and running the RV charged them up?

It was connected to 50 amp service in storage, but regardless, guess I will just see what happens. At the suggestion from Kevin Waite I pulled the thermostat and unplugged it to reset, so maybe that is all that was needed. Thanks.

Just a follow up on my problem with heat pump/ac. Took RV to Butch at Fountain RV in Lakeland FL. They replaced the thermistors in both units. So far, everything is working. Thanks to all that responded to my concern!
