For some time I have had to top off engine coolant frequently which seemed odd since I never saw any leaking under the coach. I am currently on a trip in Florida and after driving about 500 miles, checked the coolant level which was low so I had to add a gallon and half to bring it up to the site glass. Called a truck service, the tech put a pressure pump on the fill and found a leak in the heater hose up toward the front of coach over the fuel tank. Also said circulating pump was leaking. Said they would have to drop fuel tank to get to the leak and fix. I have made apt with Fountain RV in Lakeland to fix the problem since I did not have a good feeling about the truck repair place. I read good reviews about Fountain on the forum but found some really bad ones on the web. So has any one had experience with them? Butch Williams the owner is former CC employee and I have heard some good things about him. Comments appreciated!

I have known Butch for years, and though I have only dealt with him only a few times over the years he has always been fair, knowledgable, and done things right the first time. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

On my older rig, I have had both symptoms you have mentioned.
1. Coolant circulation pump (school bus pump) leaking. After being towed once and repaired twice, I personally removed and bypassed the pump near the engine. A second pump just behind the front passenger side bumper is now 22 years old and working fine. No significant effect on the cab heating function without the rear pump.
2. Coolant level dropping but no signs of coolant on the ground. After spending about $500 with Cummins and an Allison shop, I tried "burping" my coolant system. That solved the loss of coolant problem at that time.
Evidently the tech who replaced my coolant failed to follow the procedure to remove air from the coolant system as is required. The instructions are in my manuals and on the coolant surge tank. The vent to use is mounted up behind the surge tank and only reachable from the bedroom hatch.
You rig may be different, but both procedures were cheap to execute after paying the "experts" to solve the problem.
