We have been a customer of Dishnetwork for over 12 yrs  We thought we would be able to use our TV with Dishnetwork while we are in Fl as we have for yrs. WRONG  Dish never notified us they stopped using Winegard and we not be able us have any T V  I would NEVER use Dishnetwork again  They have no loyalty to their customers to not notify them there would be a change and they would no longer have any T V use. We are leaving Dishnetwork and going to Direct T V.

We also have had direct tv since 2010 in our coach and have had excellent customer service with no issues.

I left Dish many years ago, they are not "RV mobile-life" friendly. You will be quite happy with Directv. Happy travels and New Year.

After reading your post, I called Dish to inquire about the information you gave, as we installed one of the newer Winegard dishes for Dish a couple of years ago. Dish still supports some Winegard products, but there may be a problem with some of the older ones. How old is your dish?

So your antenna doesn't work anymore? I wonder what they could do to keep your antenna from getting a signal? My ground mounted dish for our 5th wheel is working right now in California, I don't know that it is a Winegard, but there is no electronic module and it is manually pointed. The MH has an RF mogul antenna that is software updateable. I have had to do that 2x in the last 16-18 months due to Dish network changes. Maybe the Eastern Arc satellites are different from the Western arc satellites?

Are you sure you don't Trac Star dome? Track Star know longer supports their domes for Dish. I replaced my Trac Star with a Wineguard and it works fine.

Good luck with DirecTV! They may be marginally better in certain respects, but I generally give them a D- (and I've been with them of 17 years. Constant fights about local channels, moving around, FTC waivers, etc. Policies change constantly. Bought a new Motosat when I bought the coach in 2010 and it was obsolete in 4 1/2 years because they changes systems. So, my view is that they're both retry bad, but what are you gonna do?

This info may help understand:

We had an old TracStar satellite that we had to replace.

We use Sats2Go in Houston TX for all our satellite needs. Dave is the RV Satellite "guru"

Sats2Go - Mobile RV Satellite Sales & Service (http://sats2go.com/21-uncategorised/5-home)

Changes are coming. Do you know what they are and how they will affect you.
DISH Network® is in the process of converting most of its satellite signals from QPSK modulation to a more efficient 8PSK format. This upgrade will allow DISH Network to provide additional content and more highdefinition programming, improving the customer experience. Unfortunately, this new format is not backwards compatible with older receiver or antenna equipment. As a result, older models of TracVision® and others antenna systems may need to be replaced to continue receiving the full lineup of DISH Network's programming. IMPORTANT! KVH's latest generation of TracVision products (RV1 and A9) are fully compatible with 8PSK format. TracVision antenna models prior to RV1 and A9 cannot decode 8PSK signals. Therefore, they will not be able to track DISH Network's 61.5°W or 129°W satellites when DISH Network upgrades to 8PSK. However, they may still track 110°W and 119°W on alternate transponders.

I do not understand how a satellite antenna cannot work as long as it is pointed at the satellite. I think there is some confusion here. Perhaps what all of this is about is some older Winegard dishes will not work with Dish HD. You need one of the newer elliptical dishes for that. Some of the older satellite domes like Kingdome and other brands will not work with Dish HD. The same applies to DirecTV. The reason is for HD the dish has to be able to pick up three or four satellites simultaneously.

Dish has always been the most RV friendly satellite TV provider without the slightest doubt. I hear Direct has improved in that regard.

I have DIRECTV TV and have had not one issue in two years. We take our receivers from home and when we get to a new location we call direct and change our service location but not billing location and we get the local Chanel's where ever we're at. Tell them your in an RV and you have a Winguard antenna (I have a RF Mogul) but they seem to understand Winguard. I've not had to sign any forms or jump threw any hoops for a long time

My Winegard is 4 yrs old that was bought from them  My biggest problem is neither Winegard nor Dish decided to not inform RVers of this change  If you don't think enough of your customers to inform them your customers won't think enough of you and leave

For TracStar, they stopped doing RV satellites and within the last 2 years stopped providing software updates, therefore when DirecTV and DISH changed their transmission format there was no compatible update so we had to purchase a new satellite antenna. We bought a Winegard (not HD).

In addition:

DISH Network® is in the process of converting most of its satellite signals from QPSK modulation to a more efficient 8PSK format. This upgrade will allow DISH Network to provide additional content and more highdefinition programming, improving the customer experience. Unfortunately, this new format is not backwards compatible with older receiver or antenna equipment. If anyone is in the Houston TX area and needs satellite help or service, Dave at Sats2Go is the "guru" of RV satellite systems. He will come to the RV park. Fast, professional with reasonable prices. We drive from Florida to have him work on our satellite systems!

Dave at Sats2Go said that it might work for a few months but eventually it won't.
And there are no more software upgrades.
