Our Splendide died. We are considering replacing with a stackable washer-dryer combo. Anyone done this? If so, what brand and model did you buy? Vented or ventless dryer?
We are also going to replace the old TV with a new flat screen either mounted on the outside of the top cabinet or mount it on the dresser at the foot of the bed.
We have a 33' Allure 2004.

Sorry for this happening, Diane and Lonny, but if you do end up with a stackable washer and dryer, hooray!!!!! We don't use our tv that's up front and haven't for quite a while because we like to sit on our couch and look directly straight across to the tv we put in the spot where the smaller maybe "j" couch was. It sits securely hooked up to the floor behind it on top of a short little book case so to speak. Works wonderfully and no more sore necks from looking sideways. Did the same with the bedroom tv and have one sitting on the counter in the bedroom. Haven't figured out yet how to better utilize the area that the tv was. We have an 06 Inspire that we love!
Sometime I sure do hope to get to Ernie in TX and have him give us a new floor!
Best to you!

We took out the combo Splendide, and removed shelves above it to create room.
Then added a 20 Amp circuit and installed separate Splendide washer & dryer (vented) Wife happy....
I was looking at Whirlpool & Kenmore, but they were slightly too wide.

For what it's worth: we weren't sure if we'd like the combo wash/dry unit, but are now convinced. If you do a load a day more or less it keeps up nicely, and the storage space taken up by a second stacking unit is VERY valuable to us, and we're not full-timing. I'd hesitate to put in stackers...

I'm really glad to read what you wrote here, Don. My husband and I feel the same way. This is crazy to say, but I actually enjoy doing a load of laundry, well maybe 2 or 3 in the same day, because the Spendide actually does work if one read the book written by some lovely woman at least 8-10 years ago. Her hints made it possible for me to do wrinkle-free and easily accomplished loads of laundry! I'm grateful I have it because it's so easy to just pop a few items in. Thank you!

After nearly 14 yrs with a combi, we agree that the space saved and available is vastly superior to the extra capacity of stacked. Generally a load or possibly two a day when in hot weather. Once every day or two seems to work okay in cooler/cold weather. Ours is vented, and that is important.

We've only had our 2005 Magna for about 16 months - it's one heck of a convenience and works wonderfully if we don't over load it. We thought about changing to stacked separates, but the space is too valuable and our 2000S model works great. If and when it dies we'll get another...
