Two issues I need help with:

Tachometer, a new one was installed but showing very high (eg 3000) rmps. Do these gauges have a cable that can go "bad"?

Where is the oil temp gauge sender located in the engine? It's Cat C9.

I have an 06 Allure with a C9, if yours is like mine, I think you'll find that your gage has no cable. There is no oil temp gauge, just a pressure gauge.

In addition, Sylvia, my husband bought the Silverleaf which allows you to plug into the bus module beside the driver's seat which gives you all the accurate readings. With a USB cable hook up to your computer and can monitor in real time. It cost about $350 to buy the module which came with a disk with the software on it.

The Tach is electric, no cable. You are describing a condition that can be caused by 2 things, one bad ground and second the signal and B+ wire are crossed.

Check those 2 items and let me know.

There is a dial setting on the back that you can adjust.
I had a problem with the tack cutting out then later it worked.
Found that the adjustment dial was the culprit by not being exactly on the contacts inside the tack case.

Thanks for your replay John. I misspoke, the gauge is not for oil temp, but transmission temp. Winnebago/Country Coach recommended a different temp sender with higher temp range to 400 degrees. So that's what needs to be installed.
