Hey.
My 2000 CC Allure front roof A/C has quit working. The compressor works, just the fan does not start up. I tried replacing the start capacitor (the 2 wire one), but still no go. Although the last capacitor was a 250vac 47-53 MFD and the new one is a 43-53 MFD. The old one did have a hole burnt in the top it looked like.
With the fan turned on, I can hear a quiet hum (trying to start?) and I can hand turn the motor rotor, and it will then spin up. I did oil the shaft on both sides of the motor, and it does turn pretty easily.
Any ideas or things to check next?
Wes

Fan motors typically do not have start capacitors they normally have run capacitors which are normally oval in shape. Are you sure you didn't change the compressor capacitor? Darrell

If this is the original system you've already exceed it's life span by 6 yrs. I milked mine as long as I could and started the replacement (upgrade) process last year. I replaced the controller and control boxes on each a/c unit. The front one (most often used) was shot, but we used some parts from it to help keep the other two running. Based on the amps drawn on the rear system it will likely be next to go.
When replacing this systems you will need to upgrade the controller and the control boxes. If you have someone do this for you check to make sure everything works to include your aqua hot (diesel burner) before they leave.

The 47-53 MFD is the compressor "start" capacitor. The fan motor only has a "run" capacitor. On mine the fan "run" capacitor and compressor "run" capacitor are combined in a single round case with three terminals on top. An online search for your model "Dometic Service Manual" should help you locate the wiring diagrams and part numbers for your A/C unit.

I've located both a manual and a service manual for my duo-therm a/c online, however neither have part numbers or details on the run capacitors. The old run capacitor also is not readable to tell what it is.
Anyone have any ideas?
my model number on the A/C is 630215 Thanks,
Wes

If you have model number of motor someone like grangers can size the capacitor for you It's probably 370vac by 4 or 5 mfd Darrell 2007 Intrigue 12075

I replaced one of my two A/C's and grabbed the capacitors and control board just in case the old unit needed one of these items.
The dual run capacitor is a20 "" 10 microfarad370 volts. I think this particular combination may be hard to find.

A local RV repair place looked up the part, and it was only available from Duo-Therm - but he had the details on the capacitor, a 20-10, 370 vac. He also said a 25-10 would work. I was able to order a 25-10 from Grainger to pick up in Tucson in a few days when I'm passing through there.
Thanks,

Remember you can get shocked from a capacitor so be careful changing it

Here's what I did. Your unit is likely to be the same as mine. To wit, model 630515.321

Post #10 in the above thread has the specs complete with physical measurements. The capacitors are commonly available on Amazon and eBay at much lower prices than Dometic or a local HVAC retailer.
