Bob, we took our 33' '04 Allure to a Truck place in Tampa FL that also does exhaust & mufflers. They did an excellent job for a reasonable price. We live in the south so it wasn't salt on the roads that made ours rust. Maybe just low quality? Here's the link of the place we used so maybe you can find a similar type of company near where you are located. https://tampatruckrepairs.com/index.php (https://tampatruckrepairs.com/index.php) Lonny & Diane Livingston '04 Allure #31065.

Our muffler was damaged by a shop tech (Not real bad, but the owner said we'll make it right.) His costs for a replacement muffler was credited towards what I purchased was an Aero 5050XL, which the shop did a great job of installing.
I went with the Aero because a friend with an ISL in SOB, said he saw a bit faster spooling of the turbo. I fell I do too, especially in 3rd and 4th gear merging situations. (Both ISL's, were CAPS era, without Variable Geometry Turbo. I mention this, because I believe the Common Rail with VGT era ISL's - Turbo would behave differently the our era. Could be even better, as the VGT is capable of higher PSI then our era Turbo.).
A bit louder, but not noticeable going down the highway, and if I just idle out of a park - not much different then OEM. MPG might be a tad better too, but sure was not a reason to have added the unit. I was hoping the advertised lower back pressure of the Aero - would yield a bit faster spooling as my friend saw - and I feel it does, so am happy with it. It's also stainless steel, and hoping it will last a long time...
I will share that the OEM on our 04 Allure, was a good good size muffler, so not near as restrictive as I've seen on some other manufactures:)!
Best to all,
Smitty

This is probably your muffler. CC used this one on many models of our range. Make sure the inlet and outlet are correct for your installation.
