I have a 97 Intrigue, my steps seem lately to be working on a delay, they are taking up to 10 seconds to open and close, I thought the motor may be going bad so I put in a new motor, and still did not fix the issue. As a side note the motor seems like every 10 seconds it wants to cycle and is very hot. Does anyone know what controls that? My feeling is that is what is bad.
Thanks Mike

Sounds like it is binding. Try cleaning the rails real good and then lube with a silicone, doesn't attract dirt like regulsr lubes.

Ray, thanks for the input, but it is as smooth as a babies bottom, my feeling is the pressure button is bad, I'm going to replace that next.

You mentioned that you changed the motor. Did the steps move freely when disconnected to the motor. Could the steps have been bumped from the side

The steps moved very freely, super smooth.

Check all connections for good contact. The stair control mogul may be faulty

Could it be low voltage ?

I would try the trouble shooting guide from Kwikee, guessing that's what they are... If you need the manual let me know... Gut feeling is a ground wire is bad, if not the controller...

Our steps seem to be acting up. They do not fully retract when the door is closed. Now they do nothing, staying partially open no matter if the door is open or closed. I can hear an electric noise when opening or closing door but nothing happens. Any ideas?

Check the gear and see if it is slipping on the drive shaft. Set screw had backed off on mine a while back. Simply removed set screw dabbed some Loctite, tightened it and all has been well for at least a year.

Had similar problem on ours. Checked the door closed switch between hinges for continuity connection below which was ok, and cleaned up all the wiring connections under the steps. Lubed everything. Been about a year trouble free since.

Hey everyone, we have issues with our steps going in and out when moving down the road. I have cleaned the ground and that worked for awhile. Now they are at it again, any ideas what maybe causing the problem?

Does your year Inspire have the little copper ball contacts in the door? On my previous 06 they did. If so clean those.

Make sure your door rubber gasket isn't partially blocking the contact buttons. I trimmed my gasket a bit. I have taken mine apart and cleaned the contacts. The steps still act up once in a while...but 90% sure it is the contacts as mentioned below.
