Guy's, I know that Tracstar is no longer made or supported, but I also know that there are still people all over the south east, including Nascar teams, that are going to ride these things into the ground. As I under stand it for some reason people in the SE are not having the problems that other parts of the country are having. Thus, the reason for me writing. There is a Tracstar unit on my CC that worked intermittently, so I contacted a Gentleman down in Fla that sells and repairs Satellite's and we have gone through about every part on this thing including the latest up grades. Many of the items I bought, some he gave me. Here is the problem. After all this the thing still does not work.I have ran every test in the Tracstar manual, and it passes all of them with flying colors, but absolutely refuses to lock onto the satellites. The man I am speaking of has spent a lot of time on the phone with me, but he finally said the only thing else he could think of was to move the coach in case somthing was obstructing feed from the sat. We tried that yesterday .it went through all the scans up through 15 .Still nothing. Have any of you ran into this problem before ? And if so was there a cure ?? Thanks for any help that you can send this way!!

Had the same problem. It would work in the northeast but wouldn't work in the south. Contacted many people and all had the same comments. April 2016 I switched to Winegard and all has been well since. Hated to throw away what seemed a good unit but it wouldn't lock on to satellites. Sometimes I could with the Tracstar pause the unit from searching and it would connect but it was very hit or miss.
tried it with Dish and Direct with same results

Not sure this is the solution, but I have been dumbfounded by the
same problem with DirecTV. Every time I would move the coach to a new
location, it would act like it could not see the satellites. It had
been programmed to look for Sat 101 and 119. Most of the time I had
to refresh the receivers in the coach, not sure that is necessary
now. As lately, I started playing with the Sat Combination and find
that positioning to Sat 101 only has allow it to work properly. But
must admit that I have moved only twice since setting it exclusively
to Sat 101. So not sure if this will work all the time. I could not
think of any other combination to setup the TracStar. I also had
tried all the zones and find that the southwest works best for me
from Oregon to the Mexico border.
Like I said I tried all combinations after I concluded that it was
not a DirecTV problem.
Hope this helps....

Don, if you can't get DTV and have a tablet that works with the DTV APP on your tablet you'd have a solution. See my article in the August CCI eNews, available at the Club website.

Lee, you won't have to break the bank when you decide to up grade .A lot of folks are selling the Weingard In Motion unit for 1295.00 including Camping World. They will install it for 395.00 .I personally think that I will go with the carry out version.so I can have some freedom of movement. Don't go to a lot of places where reception is an issue .but go to a couple where having the portable dish would sure come in handy!!

yrr, first I don't buy from Camping World.
Second our Nomad is working just fine.
Third, $1400 is quite a bit of change to upgrade .
Fourth, my new tech set up cost was zero as we already had the Kindle and Jambox.
Happy, happy here.

I am with you !! I buy very little from CW, 1295 seems to be the prevailing rate right. My friend at Newsome Electronics also sells them for 12.95 395 is a ridicules price to install one of these. Anyway just passing along the info!!!
