Those who need to replace various solenoids in their motorhomes might want to take a reader's advice in the "Powertrain Q&A" column in the March '04 *Motorhome* magazine:
"When I want a bulletproof piece of electrical gear, I generally gravitate toward using marine equipment. At West Marine, I found an electronic solenoid switch made by Blue Sea Systems with a 250-amp continuous rating.
It cost about four times as much as the garden-variety solenoids I have been replacing time and again, but now, under any load condition I have ever experienced in my coach, this solenoid barely gets warm and the voltage drop across it is nil. Until you get rid of those inexpensive original equipment or replacement solenoids, you will be chronically visited by this problem."
