Here is a thread I had on IRV2 CC Owner's section, with a similar problem. Note that I never came back with the Root Cause. The reason is that during a five month trip this year, I never once had a problem with it not turning over on the first try.
I speculate, that some general maintenance I did on the batteries and ground connections, corrected what was an off and on problem... But sure could not say which one it was:)!
Best of luck to you,
Smitty

Sometimes, I turn the ignition key to off position and engine keeps running. I had Bob Vinson check it out and of course, couldn't get it to act up. It doesn't happen very often. I just go back and hit the kill switch.
I suppose it is a solenoid or ignition switch.

Have same problem but seems to respond to opening/closing entry door. What kill switch are you using to shut the engine down?
Thanks Frank

Both of the problems in this thread could be caused by the ignition solenoid. Both problems have happened to me and it was the ignition solenoid.
For those where the engine won't start, check the front run board fuse panel fuses in the middle row with the key in the on position. These are powered by the ignition solenoid and if they aren't lit the solenoid is not switching on. Another check, and easier, is to see if your transmission indicator lights are coming on as they are powered by one of those fuses. This can be caused by a faulty solenoid or a bad ground wire to the solenoid. There is also a start relay on the transmission VIM that may be bad.
If the engine does not shut down, again check those fuses. With the key off and the engine running those fuses should not be lit. If they are, the solenoid stuck on.
One other possibility, probably of many possibilities, for the starting problem is the start solenoid. On my 2000 Magna there is a solenoid at the rear of the coach just below the passenger side tail lights. You have to lay on the ground and look up to see it. There is also a 30 amp inline fuse between that solenoid and the starter. That fuse is immediately above the solenoid and there have been reports of corrosion on the fuse blades causing similar starting problems.

Could someone please tell me where the ignition "kill switch" is on an '06 Inspire? I haven't a clue and just want to be prepared. That, of course, is if it even has one(!).

Mine is located in engine compartment up by the light. It is a red button.
