No help with problem but congratulations on the closing. Our house is up for sale right now.

Ok, so this was a persistent problem for me on my 2002 Affinity. I read in the forums to tap on the motor with a rock or hammer, sounded crazy, but it worked. I had the opportunity to test this trick several times over the last year. Anytime I was parked for any length of time, when it was time to move on, the step wouldn't retract. Tap tap tap on step motor with rock, open and close door, and magic, step would come in. It would work as it should up until it sat for a few days again. Sitting idle isn't good for electric motors and eventually they start to fail. Kevin Waite shipped me a new motor, and after the swap, I've never had it happen again. Step comes in and out as it should. Nothing else was replaced. You may have the same problem. Try the tap tap tap on the motor with a rock or other object, open and close door, and see if step goes in.

If its like mine, the motor gets totally gunked up and stops working at times...... A replacement on the motor and other things fixed mine...
