We recently took our Intrigue to Cal Pacific Cummings to have the oil changed. Their mechanic told us that the ISL 400 took 20 qts. to the full line and 16 qts to the add line. I basically remember full to be 28 qts. and low to be 20 qts. Called Cummings and was told a high of 24 qts and a low of 20 qts. Please help as I am totally confused as to what amount of oil to place in this engine.
Thanks,
Dr. Stan

There are a couple of factors that might confuse the issue. Cummins does not know what oil pan that CC might change to and how much more or less an oil cooler might change the capacity.
My thought: fill to the full line. I am, however, interested to hear what others have to say about their experience.

Dick, This is part of the problem. The dip stick is supplies by CC and does not represent an accurate measurement for the motor. Contacted Cummins again by phone this morning; they again tell me 24 qts for the pan plus 3 qts for the filter. Just received email from CC & they stated that Cummins tells them 7.3 gal or approx 29 qts. This again does not tell where the full line and the low lines should be on the dip stick.
Thanks again, but I join you in wanting to hear what some of the other members are doing.

To add another wrinkle, I have heard and read of dip sticks supplied by CC being miss-sized for the engine/oil pan. CC has, if I recall correctly, replaced dip sticks when needed.
It just really shouldn't be that difficult!
