Our latest saga in Motor Coach breakdown recovery: After a short night due to a 2:00 AM return to Port Hueneme on Tuesday, we got ready to roll to LA for the long-anticipated Rose Parade RV Rally. When Herself tried to retract the Power Gear living room slide, the damn drive shaft broke! Not the first time this has happened. But this time yours truly was ready for it. Unfortunately, both shear pins on the motor drive had apparently sacrificed themselves, because when I replaced the one that I can get to, that only enabled one of the two gear sets. The second gear still wasn't turning. The only option was to retract both sides manually (involves big wrench and much moaning & groaning) a bit at a time to keep it straight. Got that done and kludged a "stop" to keep it from coming back out, and we were on the road in an hour. It didn't help that the 100 mile drive to our LA RV Park (in San Dimas) took over 3 hours due to !@#$% LA "freeway" traffic. You may imagine yours truly had an extra glass of Irish at Happy Hour that evening.
So we will live with a smaller-than-usual living room for a week or two until we have a chance to get to an RV Mech to get the !@#$% slide drive fixed - again! Any of you know a good CC Mechanic in the Orange County CA or San Diego or Palm Springs areas? Time to dig out another BOAT unit...

You could try M&M RV repair in Chino. Is it the bolt behind the front tire. That one takes about 1/2 hour to replace. It is best to have a second pair of hands to help put the panel back on.

Before you have any repairs done, make sure the motor is secure. My Inspire had a bolt missing and several loose which caused my on going shear pin problem. I also had a shaft broken until figured out the problem was a loose motor mounting. After securing motor, shear pin problem went away. Jock Vargo, this was with a 2005 inspire. I would also recommend Colton.

Thanks for all the good advice. Have an appointment at RV Specialists in San Diego (recommended on another CC forum) to get her back on track. They're going to look at the tag axle bracket at the same time. But I'm not certain they can handle that one. I'll post a review when it's been done.

Had a catastrophic blowout on my right front coach tire while driving on the rough section of I-5 in central California.. Changed out the tire but now the ABS and ATC lights on the driver's warning light section of the instrument panel remain illuminated. Does anyone know the procedure to reset these system lights?

Sometimes my ATC will go on after driving around a campground with tag up, sharp turns. After lowering tag and driving a few miles, I stop and turn the engine off, then back on, and when I drive away the ATC light is off. With the ABS, when I first got my coach it went on for some mysterious reason. After driving about 20 miles it went off. If your sensors were not damaged in the blowout, I suspect the computer will reset itself with some miles driven.

Ditto to Greg's post. I've had exactly the same experiences. Of course it could be that Greg's coach and ours are twins :D

Someone I think mentioned Colton in Riverside, Smitty, has recommended them multiple times.

As I said before they are good and know Country Coach very well. The area is a little seedy, but I usually go the night before and park in back up against the large overhead doors to be first on the list in the morning. Suggest you call ahead and make an appointment.

Wally,
My apologies. You posted that Colton Truck Terminal was located in Riverside. Just wanted to let those who don't know that they are in Colton not Riverside.
