I have 99 MAGNA, 36'. I think only alternator charges chassis batteries. That's why I turn off chassis batteries while parked even connected to shore power which charges only the house batteries.

You should have an Echo charger that charges the chassis battery while plugged in. It combines the two batteries at the rate of 15 amps of charge. Mine is located below the freedom combi charger/inverter. My guess is your problem lies there.

Your CC should have an echo charger which will charge your chassis batteries any time the house batteries are being charged. Don't turn the chassis batt switch off if you're plugged in an charging house set...

As stated your coach should have an echo charger. Look for a small square unit about 4"x4" with 3 wires coming out of it and there should be a green light with 2 inline 20A fuses. Mine quite working and I went back with the Magnum Combiner and rewired it so I can open the battery chassis door and see what it reading.
Yours should look like this.
Amazon.com: xantrex echo charger (http://www.amazon.com/xantrex-echo-charger/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Axantrex%20echo%20charger)
Mine looks like this now.

I gave up on my echo charger a long time ago and went with clipping a BatteryTender brand float charger on the chassis battery every time I park for more than a couple of days. Kept the original battery in perfect condition for 11 years. Light duty extension cord from the basement outlet to the battery bay does the job. Cost effective as well. Safe travels.

Echo Chargers have too many problems. I replaced my echo charger with a small electronic 3-stage100 amps charger. The Echo Chargers only have 15 amps and if the house batteries are discharged and under 13 volts from use it, they will not turn on to charge the chassis batteries. I also put a master High amperage battery switch to combine all battery Banks. Only when I'm dry camping do I turn it off to separate the chassis and house batteries. 8 years running and no problems with all the batteries ageing and charging together.

As previously stated, check the two fuses on the wires at the Echo Charger. My 2000 Magna has the original Echo Charger and it is performing quite well.
