We are in North Carolina and need to replace the air bags and shocks on our 1998 CC Magna.
Can anyone on here tell us how to go about this? We realize the air bags need to be ordered in advance and must fit the Coach. There does Not appear to be any numbers or model on the existing bags.
We have not found a shop locally that can do the work.??
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

I feel the pain. I had to drive with leaking air bags on our99 Intrigue from Texas to Tucson. Eric Olstrom was up to the challenge. Since we were staying in the coach he took them off and I believe there were some numbers that you can't see when they are on, took measurements and put them back on until he found one in California, one in Florida, and two in Michigan. He also put Koni shocks on also.
If you want it done right make the road trip to Arizona. Olstrom Custom Coach 520-485-3750

Goggle, figure out which shocks you want and google that company. Search for authorized users of that product. Good luck

You need to locate the mfg of your steer axle and your drive axle. With that info finding the air bags should not be a problem. That axle info is usually found somewhere on each axle.
If you take it to a reliable / honest shop....it's exactly what they will do.
Where are the records that came with each CC in a box ?

Carolina Coaches is located between Statesville and Hickory, NC. I understand they are very familiar with CCs. We ordered furnace parts from them. They were knowledgeable and nice to work with.

I have a 1994 Country Coach Magna and it is on a Gillig Chassis. I
beehive your 1998 is also on a Gillig chassis.
My air bags and shocks were replaced a few years ago. I called Gillig
parts 510-264-5160 and ordered the air bags and shocks.
My original shock were Koni and Gillig was able to provide the exact
replacement. .
Had no issues with the parts fitting or working. The original air bags
were still working OK but had started to show cracks in the rubber.
Replacing the shocks did make for a better ride.
Gillig has all the build data for our chassis and ordering from them
assures we will bet the correct parts.
Just give then your VIN number.

Just went thru this on my 1998 magna build #5534. Mine is on a Dynomax chassis with 8 airbags and Ridewell suspension..
If that is what you have, the front airbags on mine were fs9448, there were a few variations of Ridewell front suspensions but from what I could tell they all used the same front airbag. The rear airbags are also fs9448 on mine. On some Ridewell suspension's the rear air bags are rs9459. The way you tell which ones are on the back is the rs9459 only have one bolt securing it on the bottom, the rs9448 have two bolts. I also confirmed my numbers with country coach with the build # for mine.
The shocks are available from Koni. You can look them up on their rv shock website.
If you want I can send you the schematics Ridewell sent me of all the suspensions they supplied that year to Country Coach with part numbers for you to confirm for yourself.

Yes, I would be very happy to have more information from Ridwell. This is the first time I have had to deal with the air bags and its all foreign to me.
I truly appreciate all your valuable information.
We both Love our Coach and each time we start talking about upgrading, we talk ourselves out of it because we are so happy with the one we have. We do need to do preventative maintenance by replacing the air bags, shocks and getting new tires.
I have looked everywhere on the air bags and have not found any identifying numbers so your advice is invaluable.
Thanks

I had three of my air bags replaced last year at McBrides rv in. Chino ca. Last year. They ordered 2 of them. But they couldn't findnd tother one, ?so they knew a company that made them. You might give them a call if you have trouble finding them.

To determine the air bag numbers, they have to be removed as the numbers are on the top of the top plate. Mikee

Unfortunately after removing the front airbags on our 07 37' Inspire, the only markings were on a yellow paper stick on tag which after 10 years of environmental exposure was not readable. So if you might have some other means of identifying the number or source of airbags on an 07 CC inspire let me know.

You could try sending a e-mail to CC, heard they are not very response answering the phone. Also, Kevin Waite is a great resource.

I went through the same excercise with both Kevin and Gary at Premier recently. They both said that CC purchased the axles complete with airbags and that the mfg. is the only source of info. Wish someone would make up a database of chassis and brake parts. Damon Rapozo where are you?

Country Coach came up with the same numbers as the pdf's Ridewell sent.
Ridewell wanted the serial number of the suspension, Country Coach wanted the build number. The axles were from a different manufacturer than the suspension and of no help to determine what airbag to get on mine.
The number off the top of the airbags on mine were just stickers, none of the individual airbag stickers survived enough to read the entire part number as I looked at them when I took them off the rv.

I had to replace my airbags in the front. I contacted Country Coach and others. Everyone else was wrong, Ridewell was right: Ridewell has the correct numbers for the airbags if you have a Ridewell suspension. I believe only Magnas and Affinities have Ridewell suspensions.

More air bag numbers. I just did the two on the steer, 4 on drive axle- all same, and 4 on tag axle (my tag used 2 of the 1R11152 the drives used and two small lift bags)
Steer (2) 1R13109 Good Year or FS 8782 Firestone
Drive/Tag main (6) 1R11152 Good Year or FS9459 Firestone
Tag LIFT small bags (2) 2b9-246 Good Year or FS 6932 Firestone,

I don't know my front numbers, but on the rear, all of those numbers (duals and tag lift) are the same on my 2006 Magna except for the tag ride, and they are Firestone FS 8991.

This is exactly what we need to start a chassis parts database. We can do the same for shocks, brake shoes, brake pads and brake chambers. I for one, will start saving these. Anyone who has any portion of this info, please post it.
Thanks, BrianE
