I just checked the hydraulic fluid (referring to the main canister for the fan/steering). Level is perfect fluid looks and smells like new pink Dexron ATF fluid. I changed the filters and what fluid I could remove from the canister seven years and about 50k miles ago. Is there any point in changing filters? I have a set of those three stacked paper filters but don't want to do it if it's pointless.

I would say its time to change both the fluid and the filters. 50k in miles and 7 years might be pushing it.
