Hi Group
I am looking at a Garmin RV770 LMT on theGPSstore on line. Any experience with this system or comment would be appreciated. Or if you think there may be a better unit I should look at or a better value.
Thank you for your help take care and be safe.

I purchased an RV 770 last year. Used it all summer traveling all over from the west to midwest. What a great unit. Not only for navigating, but looking for a campground or restaurant or fuel stop or point of interest. It was great. Will not be without it in future.

Hey Chris,
I've had mine for about 9 months now and it has saved me twice that I know of. Both times it rerouted me to prevent going under a low train trestle. I'm a believer.....
Safe travels

How does excellent free GPS sound? Use your cell phone iPhone or Android to download WAZE. Join the 35 million Wazer community and get a great free resource. It'll do most everything you need. Use it first in your car to get familiar. You'll love it.

To respond to the OP, I like my Garmin DEZL 760 and rely heavily upon it. It's the predecessor to the RV units. I've compared routes with my Garmin and Google Maps and there are route differences that occur because the Garmin lets you program in your vehicle size and road restrictions. If you take the trouble to learn the free Garmin Base Camp program you can do some pretty amazing route planning and then download the routes to the gps. There are other methods of planning a route and downloading the route to the gps but Base Camp is a program on your computer and you don't need an internet connection to run it.

The traffic alert is OK and I guess prepares you for the inevitable delay you will be facing. But, this part of the gps is not as good as Waze or Google Maps as they appear to be better with their traffic reports.

I've also downloaded seven POI files from POI Factory that help me find locations easier than scrolling through the menus in the gps.

My experience with about 4 different brands of gps units over the years leads me to believe that Garmin has the best screen display. I can see my Garmin screen even when it is in bright sunlight.

x4...we have one and use it extensively both in Europe and the US.

I find that for easy route planning, having the maps (Basecamp) installed on my lap top is ideal.

Our RV760LMT has performed extremely well since we installed it in 2016 and 10,000 miles ago. The Bluetooth feature makes incoming calls both safe and convenient, and the large screen display is terrific. Safe travels.
