Title: Replacement (upgrade?) entry door latch for 1998 Intrigue

I am looking for a replacement for the main door handle/latch assembly for my 1998 Intrigue. Mine is getting pretty loose on the inside handle, I'm concerned one day it will fall off and I'll be trapped. Another problem is that it sometimes comes open while traveling - and the only thing at that point holding the door shut is the deadbolt.

Kevin Waite does have a brand new exact replacement (he always has everything :-), but I was hoping for something more solid like with a pull latch inside instead of the lever handle.
Has anyone replaced one of these with something else that fits the existing hole in the door? It is a Bargman 10-30-051 model and the hole is about 4-7/8" square. If someone has a brand & model number they have used or better yet a link, that would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark M

About ever 3 years , I take the unit out and replace the 2 small springs inside.

I have a 1998 Magna and the Bargman door latch also gave up.
I replaced it with a TriMark latch purchased from Camping World.
After about a year the latch bolt (part that engages the door frame) broke internally.
A google search revealed this is an issue with the latch using Zink material.
I called TriMark and ordered a new lock that has a steel latch bolt.
The have latch units the have the usual latch handle key and another model that has a deadbolt. The latch is black and comes with a new striker plate. I am very pleased with my replacement. You may want to consider this option.
I would order the latch directly from TriMark to make sure it has the steel latch bolt.

Is it possible to shim it to tighten it? Mine is a little sloppy.

I wanted to add photos of the TriMark door latch on my 1994 Magna.
It replaced the Bargman latch and works very well. Solid locking.
i used a black Mylar material to trim the outside of the door behind the latch.
This covers a few small paint issues from the old lack.

Wow thanks Jim, that's excellent info. I saw your pictures and I called Trimark, verified the hole cut in the door will fit, and ordered a 1650 latch with the steel bolt and without the deadbolt since I already have a separate Schlage deadbolt. That looks like a more solid design, especially for the pull-close from the inside. And it has the virtue of the manufacturer still in business and making them - a rarity for Country Coaches of our vintage :-)

The door on my old Allure is still a good fit so have not had to make any adjustments. I do lube the parts with the Pack Brake oil.
