Has it struck anyone but me strange that CC goes out and makes this alliance with Cummins maintenance facilities (the Coach Care facilities) and then begins putting more and more CAT engines in their coaches? I know that there have always been a couple of CATs in the lineup somewhere, it just seems to me that CC is using them more and more.

It's not strange, Cat has a better Engine, It has less problems and more torque for the HP. The cheaper coaches get Cummins and the better line get Cats. There are lots of people that like Cummins but this site shows that they also have more problems. We had a 1996 Safari with an electronic 3126 Cat, 2 years before Cummins could produce a new electronic engine required in 1998. Cat is ahead again this time with the new engines required in 2006.

Perhaps my point of emphasis was not communicated well. I don't doubt that the CAT engines are great engines, maybe even better than the Cummins. I wouldn't argue that for a moment as I'm not even remotely qualified to do so. My point was that it appeared that Country Coach spent a lot of time, effort and money to cultivate a relationship with the Cummins service centers throughout the country. I know that my local Cummins Coach Care facility (which is rated a Level 3 facility in CC terminology) has had several people trained at the Country Coach factory at Country Coach's expense. As a result they do excellent work on my coach in a lot of areas.

Now, it appears that CC, for whatever reason, is opting to use more and more CAT engines in their coaches (and obviously not just in the higher priced units since CATS are going in the Inspires). What's going to happen to the relationship with Cummins if ultimately the predominant CC engine choice is CAT? If CC could see this coming, why ballyhoo the newly strengthened relationship with the Cummins Coach Care facilities?
