I've got a Onan 12500 generator on my 01 Affinity. It would run rough an the Hz would jump around from 56 to 65 an kill itself after a couple minutes. This is with all three ac's running, it would run with 1 but rough. I've been told the generator inverter is probably bad but cummins says it does not have one an there's not one in the Parts manual for my model 12.5hdcab11506a. Cummins gen mechanic said probably acuator is probably bad. I've got appointment for next week at cummins but I figured I could throw Parts at it as good as they could. I put new 385.00 acuator on it today, it didn't fix it. Next I tried new fuel pump, it's runs very smooth now an the hz is staying at the 60 like it should but with all 3 ac's it dies after 10 minutes 2 ac's it ran for 30 minutes an died after I added 3rd. Then it ran for a few minutes with 2 on an tripped both 120 breakers in the box. I flipped them back on an they run fine on shore power.
I'm out of ideas..
Thanks

Mine did some strange things. New Fuel line was the fix.

Also check the fan belt for being adjusted correctly and finally what is the voltage reading and amp draw when it stops?

I changed fuel filter. I do hear belt squeaking or what sounds a little like it. I'm going to take covers back off and check. I'm not sure what voltage an draw are when it dies. I figured the gauges went to zero, never looked. But while running all that looks good.

Belt was loose, put new one on that I had. It's running perfect 3 ac's , water heater, battery charger are all on. 30 minutes an it's has not died. I guess the belt was the last link. It's going to have to run a couple hours to make me feel comfortable but I think it's good to go. Thanks for the help.

Spoke to soon. Added microwave an it killed it. I'm running it through all the different loads one at a time and see how it reacts as they are added. See what happens.

How low are your house batteries after all this? Charger could be making a large pull on power also.

Showing fault 27. Sounds like control board.

So, you do need to run that gen once a month for a minimum of two hours under load. It is a big generator, but you still have limits on the load . Are you tripping that 50. Amp breaker on the top of the generator? Refer to your Onan Manuel.

No it's never tripped the breaker on the gen. It's back to shutting itself down with any load 1 ac 2 ac it does not seem to matter. Showing fault 27. I'm going to get into the stater an check some wire connections In the mornin. Generator gets ran often enough.

Code 27 is a PMA sense loss. This would Point probably to a bad stator or maybe control board I would think. By the way there is no inverter in the 12.5 or the 10 to my knowledge. The 8 and 7.5 are inverter generators.

Yeah I figured out there's no inverter the other day when I couldn't find one on the Parts list. But there's not a voltage regulator on the list either. And I can't find one.
