I know that there are a lot of products out there for coating the fiberglass roof on our coaches. One that I have been looking into recently is called RV Roofing Solutions ... kind of pricy, but they do all the work, and guaranty their work for 10 years. Their claim is that it's a multi-layer acrylic coating that ends up being about 3/32" thick, remains flexible, eliminates any future caulking, 100% maintenance free, will not mold or mildew, and will not oxidize and cause white streaks down the side of the coach. It's this last reason that I am considering such a coating ... our roof is constantly oxidizing and causing the white streaks. I'd really like to hear comments from anyone who has had experience with this product in particular.

No experience with that one but in Jan or Feb we had RV Armor put on our fiberglass roof. Again not cheap but guaranteed for as long as the VIN is alive! Transferable to a new owner also, so not one with an extended guaranty that is betting you won't keep it that long.

I used mop and glo, it worked exceptionally well for the 2.5 years we owned the coach. After touchin up caulking, I just used a sponge mop to apply - no more white streaks for 2.5 years...

Last year I applied two coats of Henry's Elastomeric coating, 12 year warranty, in a couple of hours. I have used the same material on the roof of my house and both are working great. Total cost is less than $200 bucks. It took just three gallons for the RV, applied with a roller to a clean roof.

I used 303 on my roof, but not sure I applied it properly? For those who use it, how do you apply?

You all know that boats are made out of the same stuff. My coach is 12 years old and there is no oxidation and there is no streaking down the sides. I use a 3M fiberglass color restorer which is a non aggressive rubber compound and it is effort but when you are done it looks like new. I then apply a sealer with UV protection and you are good for about a year. The sealer also gives it a slick finish which makes it easier to clean. Treat it like a boat.

About a year after we purchased the coach, I got tired of seeing the oxidized fiberglass streaks on the sides. I had noted when I need to work on the roof, that it was slippery when wet from dew and rain. When working on the roof in hot weather, sweat would drip off my head and I more than once slipped on those areas, so I was always very careful about walking on the roof. Actually, it was more like crawling when there was any moisture on the roof.
I am a boater and decided to paint the roof with a paint used for the hulls and decks on boats. I used white Interlux Brightsides one part polyurethane paint. I believe it also came in a two part process but didn't think I needed that additional durability for a surface not normally walked on. I added a non skid compound to the paint, but only used about 1/3rd the recommended amount as the roof is not normally walked on, and only used one coat. On a moving boat, not slipping on deck is critical, especially in a storm.
The prep work included washing the roof and lightly sanding the roof per the instructions, and placed masking tape as needed. The full job took less than 3 hours and cost under $100. I only used one coat of paint.
After 5 years and over 50,000 miles, the roof is safe to walk on under any moisture conditions. I am no longer concerned about slipping so there is no need to crawl; there are no fiberglass oxide streaks and no sign that the paint is deteriorating.

When we first got our coach, the roof needed a deep cleaning and manual light grit buffing with my Orbital Buffer. I used Zaino products on the roof, including a finishing coat of Zaino ZCS, which like Dan used is a sealer with UV protector in it. Minor maintenance over the next 18 months or so, and much cleaner sides due to no white streaks.
We found our two 15K AC units, worked hard in temps over 100 degrees to keep the coach cool. Darker paints, especially on the rear cap, added to the heat gain. So when we were getting ready to add our Solar Panel systems, we did two things:
1) Bus Kote applied. Help form this, and other forums, on deciding to use this product.
2) We also ran four of our five solar panels, over the top of our shower solar dome roof. Using traditional home roof racks.
The combo of Bus Kote and shading of the roof and solar dome by these four panels, really helped on heat build up in the coach.
And, the Bus Kote also does not streak. About year 5 now, so this year I'll do a deep cleaning, and apply one more coat of Bus Kote, and then he Clear Sealer too. Pleased with how its holding up.

I used Bus Kote. It is use on school buses and will reduce the heat in your coach as well as white streaks. I think it has worked very well for me. Did it myself an cost a couple hundred dollars.

I used to wax or polish the roof but as I am getting older, I had to quit doing that. I used Zep High Traffic floor wax on it and it looked great for a year.
Now I just mop on a coat of 303 protectant every 6 months or so. I wait until we have the coach washed, including the roof, then use my Wash-Wax All mop to apply the 303. It looks clean and doesn't do the white streaks.
