It's a 9 hour drive for us from the SF Bay Area to Junction City, Oregon, and worth it to us for the knowledge and quality of work this man gives us on our 2006 Inspire. Bob Vinson has about 2 decades of Country Coach experience, various jobs with the company including being the key trouble shooter for customers. Kevin Waite referred us to Bob for some service and I am grateful to him!

Bob has done everything from engine work to appliances, to carpeting , to setting us up to tow, and done for us it superbly.

We were recently along side a beautiful older CC in an RV park in Colorado and I complemented the owner on his rig. He told me there is only one guy he has work on it, and it's Bob Vinson. That's a statement that pretty well says it all.

But here is a little more: In addition to his fine work and knowledge, he is honest, straight forward, and his care about his customers shows.

A footnote: Though my wife has driven every coach we owned, this one intimidated her and she never had been in the driver's seat. Bob told me to relax in his office, and took for a her first go as the driver. She came back smiling, and now she is driver.

Bravo Bob!

Michael I have a 2004 inspire which I've had almost 8 years. Love it.
I'm having some house battery issues. The Xantrex inverter shows they're fully charged but when I try to start the generator it won't start. I have to start the big motor then it cranks. The house batteries are bout 6 years old. Any ideas?

I agree, some of you West Coast CC gurus need to move east ; there's plenty if CC service here.

My house batteries are 3+ years old and are supported by two solar chargers on the roof.
From another poster a few weeks ago I learned the generator is started by the house batteries, so your having to use the engine suggests those batteries are not up to it. Do not recall ever getting 6 years out of a house battery. I am not a bit educated about the accuracy of the Xantrex readings, but would think any battery guy could test yours and tell you.

My guess is new house batteries are on your horizon.

We too make an annual spring trip from SoCal for Bob to address the issues that became apparent during our travels. Unless it is an emergency, Bob Vinson is our ONLY service.
Further comments to thank Kevin Waite for his active attention to this blog and his expertise in obtaining repair parts we need,
Thanks to both of you.

Try checking all conections, back of generator, electrial bay, batteries, etc. Your batteries are older could be the cause would get them checked if you don't know how. For me one time it was the batteries, the other a power cable to the generator from the electical bay had come loose and only started sometimes, but always started when the engine was running.

I too can vouch for Bob Vinson he is the stand up do it right for a very fair price sort of guy. We traveled regularly from San Diego or wherever for Bob and his team (Kevin Waite - Parts and Brian Shack - Chasis) to make upgrades and repairs to our coach. When we had an air leveling valve break, Bob adjusted other jobs and worked through the night so as to not delay our trip and Brian Shack did the airbags that we noticed at the time right away. Always for a more than fair price.

One time when I noticed a problem with a job after we left, Bob traveled to us for free to make it right - I trust him and his work!

Do NOT go to Fountain RV in Lakeland. They are rip off artist, at least the owner Mark is. Butch Williams, Kevin Waite's brother in law, used to be the manager there, but he tired of it and moved on

Unfortunately I had a very disappointing experience at Fountain RV last November, and never got any resolution from them after repeated attempts on my part. Wrong parts used in repairs and other ordered parts never sent to me later, despite promises. They had been my go-to place for years with Butch, but not anymore. Hopefully there are other qualified CC repair facilities in that area. Safe travels.

Which place were you referring to?
Can I guess Lakeland RV? Where Butch William's used to work?

If your 12v systems work fine when not on shore power and your inverter is turned off, the house batteries and wiring are likely good.

You might want to test your house batteries with a multimeter to verify the accuracy of your inverter meter.

If you can start the generator from the switch mounted on the generator, then the battery to generator wiring is probably good.

In that case, your problem may be with the inside mounted switch for starting the generator and its associated wiring.

If you cannot start the generator from the generator mounted switch using only the house batteries, then you have a wiring problem between the batteries and the generator
