Howdy All-

Sometimes with a particularly large gust while driving, or just the
right rig passing, the whole mirror head will move.

I've tried getting the 2 set screws out without any luck, just twisting
the allen wrench. I've applied oil several times and let it set, with no
change.

So, my question is has anyone had this same issue, and what was the
solution? And, I suggest you remove yours if you can say every 5 years
or so and lubricate?

I could drill them out until basically only treads left, then tap or use
a pic to try to pic out the remainders? I guess worse case is drill it
out 100% and put in the next larger size set screws?

Also, I just purchased 4 - 100ah LiFePO4 (lithium) batteries to replace
my lead acid domestic bank (6 - 6v) $3,600. Looking forward to that, and
will be doing a fair bit of boondocking in Mexico over the next 4
months, so I may have some updates on my comparison between the two.

Wes - No real constructive input on the mirror head, good tip on regular maintenance/lubrication of the moving pieces and tightening components.

One smart arse suggestion - say maybe a 2004-2007 (Pre heavy smog years.) Affinity will solve the mirror problem:)!

Which 100AH lithium units did you go with? One where you'll build it yourself and add a BMS? Or one that is a battery replacement drop in, with BMS in the package?

Please post your progress on this changeover. We just replace our bank of Lifeline X's 4 L16's for 800AH. (I 'walked down' the first bank, and about 5 1/2 years decided to replace them. (My bad, on how I had my MS2812 set while in storage, was the root cause of this earlier then expected demise:)!). I had hoped to get a few more years out of them, and then was going to replace with drop in lithium, looking at X's 2 of the 300AH LifeBlue's. But Lifeline made me an offer on replacement batteries that was too good to pass up. Really a stand up company, as their Tech Support worked with me off and on for about 3 weeks, as I tried to recover my first set via Conditioning. Got better, but one of the batteries was still not recovered, enough - and it wold bring the other three down. So another hopefully 6-8 years to let Lithium prices drop:)!

Will look for followup posts on your lithium makeover - that is, if you don't go with an Affinity to fix the mirrors issue:)!
