About 4 months ago I re-sealed my skylight with Eternabond and so far so good. I've used Eternabond before and have had excellent results.

Best of luck with you re-seal job.

Is the seam horizontal Lee? If so, good ole Dicor self-leveling lap sealant would seem good. It's all over the place up there.

Lee, go see Eric Olstrom and have him Bus Coat your entire roof to seal as well as stop the white streaks on side of coach.

After re-caulking with limited success I used Eternabond and am thoroughly happy.

I will be replacing my skylight since I discovered that it is not good to walk on it! I count about 40 screws, and I have chosen FLEX SEAL.

I used Flex Seal once on a small job on the roof, and notice it does not hold up to UV very well. At least not as well as the Dicor lap sealant does. I had to replace it after about 2 years.

This is one of those times when one solution does not fit each situation:)!

For normal roof maintenance of screw head tops, seams, around dishes, horns, etc. - I use Dicor Self Leveling.

On man of the non visible pars of the roof, after I've cleaned the area well with acetone, I'll apply Dicor to a seam, then go over it with Eternabond Tape of the appropriate width. I also then put a bead along the leading edge of the Eternabond tape (Leading edge forward, for when driving into rain at speed.). I find the work to do this, is usually a one time thing. The Decor Self Leveling caulk is protected by the Eternabond tape. The caulk is probably overkill, as Eternabond is rather robust. But, if moisture did somehow work it's way past this layer, the caulk adds more insurance. (I did this around the shower skylight about 6 years ago now, right after we had Buskote applied, and the solar installed. Inspect it carefully each year, and so far still looks very sound. I also patched a small area where we'd removed one antenna, using this process.)

Silkens is a good product, and in the right applications does a good job. As Greg mentioned, UV is not the friend of any of these products. I've used both Silkens, and at the applications 3M 5200 or 9500 adhesive seal, depending on what I was working on at that time.

Best to all,

HI,I REPLACE OUR SKYLIGHT AND USED ETERNABOUND TAPE ALSO AND CAULK THE LEADING EDGE WITH THERE CAULK,4 YEARS LATER AND STILL LOOKS GOOD.I ALSO USED THE TAPE ON WALL TO CEILING, TOP OF OUR SLIDE ROOM ON THE SEAM, WHAT A MISTAKE THAT WAS.WHEN OUR ROOM WAS IN IT WOULD FORCE THE CAULK FROM THE TAPE FINALLY PUSH OUT THE CAULK AND ONTO THE SLIDE ROOM SEAL, WHEN THE SLIDE WAS PUT OUT IT WOULD PULL THE SEAL AND PULL IT APART.WE JUST HAD KEVIN WAITE REPLACE THE SEAL 4 MONTHS BEFORE THAT.I REMOVE THE TAPE AND USED DIRCORE CAULK AND REPLACE THE SEAL.SO DONT USE ETERNABOUND WHERE THEIR WILL BE ANY PREASURE ON IT.CHARLES 2000 MAGNA5886
