Lost power to dash and engine. Driving down the road, dash would reset and come back within a few seconds. Happened twice. Third time power went out for good. On the side of the road. Chassis battery is 12.4 bolts. Charging chassis batteries through gen set. Checked breakers and fuses on chassis batteries walls all good.

Any ideas?

Bad Ignition solenoid in front run bay. Wire around it to get power back ( but then won't turn off). It will get you home.

How do I determine which is the correct solenoid?

It is hard to see from that photo... it is black with 4 wires attached, 2 big 2/0 battery cable type and 2 smaller 14 gauge. It is blocking current because it has malfunctioned. Jump it to flow current. Here is photo of a typical 12 V solenoid ( not mine, but mine looks similar). Mine is mounted on the outside wall above the door opening, so look up.

Good job! Remember, to turn it off you will have to disconnect jumper.

Greg,

Tell me, do you have a HUGE "S" on your shirt?

Amazing. Good job of diagnosing and explaining how to fix. I'll need you to be online when I next take a trip! Ha!

Made it to Albuquerque, searching for the part, it is difficult to find. Have some leads for tomorrow. Wish I could buy Greg a drink or dinner.

Haha, glad it worked out. A blind squirrel finds an acorn from time to time... I carry a spare, I bought it online from part number on original. I think they are often used on large lawn mowers and small tractors.

I am wondering if our coach has same solenoid (2000 allure). I have gotten an intermittent power code twice but not sure what the condition was or what happened. Have to check this out.

Greg and Mark,

I take it that you run some type of battery cable to jump the 2 large poles. Correct?

For a 2006 Magna or Affinity, it is this part number, but I would suspect would work on any coach. As I said they are typically used on large lawnmowers or small tractors...

Yes, I have the same part number. I found it at Grainger and Amazon. Local auto parts stores, truck centers, RV shops and so on do not have it or something similar.

Is it necessary to post PNG files s graphics? JPG and GIF were the
long-lived standards, and some of us who are using Windows XP and 7 seem
not to be able to read and print PNG files. OTOH, who here knows an
easy way to convert PNG files to JPGs?

If you're on Windows 7 or XP, you should have Microsoft Paint. Open the image with Paint then do a "Save As" selecting JPG or GIF as the format.
