Can anyone recommend a roof coating for our Inspire country coach? Our roof is in need of a new coating.

Thanks

We have done our roof twice with this material in the past 10 years. Very satisfied with the results, ease of installation, durability, and appearance. Lowes had it, and there may well be other sources. "Elastomeric" is the key word for tenacious hold and durable weather resistance. Safe travels.

We have used Buskote from Hytech in Florida twice in 7 years ( just did 2nd time a few weeks ago) Great product that protects roof, seals, skylight and provides a great reduction in heat on the roof. Great company with great phone support. We love it on our Inspire.

I have used Henry's elastomeric coating, two coats, one rolled in one direction and the second across the original lines. It is available at Home Depot or Lowes in different warranty years. I used 12 year and had my local local apply it for $150 bucks.

Kevin Waite put Bus-Kote on mine several years ago and it is holding up just fine.

I also have used Buskote and it works great. Easy to apply and low to no odor.

Applied Bus-Kote on our coach last summer ourselves. Was an easy process took three days, ordered it from amazon. So far happy with the product.

Once you start down Buskote path, are you stuck with maintenance of it? You know like varnishing a deck? I read about other permanent coatings, advanced polymers, no maintenance. I hate getting on roof!

Donnie, I've heard of this product on one of these forums. Do you know of a video instruction I could watch to gain more courage before I tackle such a project?

Thanks!

We also apply the clear coat they recommended and all we ever do is wash it. The clear coat started to crack and looked ugly to us after 7 years. There was no impact to the functionality but it gave us a good excuse to redo it. After washing the roof it went right over the old (primer-buskote - clearcoat) and now we have more heat protection as well. It looks brand new again. If you apply the clear coat too thick it will look yellow and will clear up after it cures. We found it dropped down the heat in the coach and no more chaulking streaks. If you choose to use the product make sure you fix any bad seals first so you can apply right over them. We also put it in our shower skylight which really cuts down the heat and helps protect it from getting as brittle and cracking. Make sure their is no silicone on the roof as it won't adhere to silicone. You should call and ask any questions as I have found them to be very helpful.

That's a valid comment. As we're at the maintaining cycle with out Buskote now. (Let it go a bit too long, and now have to apply a primer coat again - my bad:)!).

I think agree, and also came close to going with a Boat Deck Two Part application on our roof. I believe it would probably be just about a 'one an done' application, as with UV protection, and no wear and tear to speak of on the roof, should hold up quite sometime.

A few more thoughts:

-For coaches with three AC's, even darker painted 45' units 13.5K units, I'd suspect the Buskote insulation is not a factor.
-For coaches like ours, 40' with two 15K AC units, and a mix of about 25-30% darker paints, every little bit of help on keeping cool is important. (Now, we've spent many times in our coach in 105 + degree temps. Those of you who find mid 90's to be a 'hot one' in your travels, probably would also be fine without the extra insulation help of the Buskote.
-One other factor for us, being OK in our 40' coach with the 2 15K AC's in higher temps. Is that we put 5 solar panels on our roof. One mounted separated directly do the roof itself, and 4 panels mounted on a residential rack, straddling over the top of the shower's solar dome. I have no question in my mind, that without the shading/reflection of these 5 panels, especially over the Solar Dome - we'd still be very challenged to maintain comfortable temperatures. (When it's over 100, we use a doubled up piece of the reflective bubble insulation on the inside of the showers solar dome, held by curtain rods. We also cover the front and passenger/driver sides of our windows and windshield with an outside privacy protector.).

As far as the white streak, if that is your only concern. Then three courses of action are available (Probably more. But here are three.):
-Good polishing cleaner, via orbital buffer. Coat with Aerospace 303. Yearly wash, and apply fresh coat of Aerospace 303.
-Buskote. (One primer, to top coats, no sealer)
-Boating Deck Paint, with UV protection. Recommend spending the extra for a Two Part product.

And yes, lots of floor products are used. And lots of normal washing and waxing too. Variations include washing, waxing the final Aerospace 303: Just washing and waxing; Or, the spray on heavy coating approaches talked about here, etc., etc.

So it really comes down to how much you want to spend. And, what you're trying to achieve. I was trying to achieve less white streaking (And for the first few years, did very well with the buffed out roof top, and yearly Aerospace 303 (Or two times I used Zaino's ZCS, which is also UV a UV protectant.). But when I realized due to our usage of the coach in hotter climates, that we needed more help on cooling - I went with the Buskote...

Best to all,
Smitty

Hey John,
I must of u-tubed it or watched the application process on their website. We cleaned the roof and then applied the primer. We let that set for a day and then applied the first coat. Let this dry for a day and added a second coat.
You need to have at least two coats for a good deal. We purchased one gallon of the primer and had plenty of left over, two gallons of the paint and that just covered our 40ft coach. I believe
