Does anyone know the right measurement guidelines for the strings for our 2000 Allure CC day/night shades? Has anyone restrung their blinds?
I bought the replacement string at fixmyblinds.com (http://fixmyblinds.com/?fbclid=IwAR09bGEvC_YnyDzFS0KWIH2Pt8jGlOMH8zmYpwuq5K7nyhE0DVAvKzjF8As), and in their video it says the string length is 2.5 x width + height, but this is based on blinds that use "cord retainers" at the bottom.
Ours use a top rail and a bottom rail. My first attempt at 2.5 x width + height was way too short. My second attempt is now way to long (tried 5 x width + length).

Hoping someone can give me some guidance on the string length.

Thanks,
Beth

I've restrung all the shades in my 2000 Magna. I use 1.8 mm cord and order it in 100 yard spools.

Here are the total cord lengths I use for each window that I have. The window length and width are approximate. The actual width between the outer most cords would be about 4 inches less that the length.

Window Window # Strings Total
Length, in Height, in Length, yds
57 30 4 20.5
50 28 4 18.5
68 28 4 23.0
17 28 2 4.5

There will be excess cord but better too much than too little.

A hint: once you remove the blind, loosen the screws in the brackets slightly to make it easier to re-install the blind. If you loosen them too much the blind will fall out. Just tighten them a bit and re-install. Don't ask how I now about being too loose.

There should be a YouTube video on this. I remember seeing one.

Thanks Paul and Pete.

Very helpful. Paul gave me some excellent advice and it worked very well. I will post pictures, some how I did it, and my measurements, once I tackle my next blind and document the process better.

Great community support - thanks.
