Title: Shopping for older, high-end DP.

Hi,

I'm a newbie to any kind of motorhome. I am trying to get something that will work for a long-time to full-time cross country trek. Wife is mobility semi-disabled (uses a walker) so we may have to add an after-market lift at some point. In my searches, Country Coach, Newmar, Monaco, Beaver, and Safari keep standing out for having reputations for quality. Since the focus here is CC, what should I look for? What are the known high-fail or deal-breaker issues? My market range, with most rigs, is 2000 or older, both for the affordability and the goll darn depreciation. I would like any rig I get to have gone through all or most of its depreciation.

Sounds like the start of a fun journey ahead for you both!!!

I'm not real familiar with the pre 2000 era CC's, as my target years were 2003-2006 when shopping.

I'd suggest you reach out to Damon Rapozo. He is a veteran sales professional (Different then a mere salesman, as he sincerely believes in developing long term relationships (Yep, including repeat sales at times:)!) with those he works with. A straight shooter, and one of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to Country Coaches. And, experience with other coaches you mentioned too...

And I found the below Sticky on RV.Net to be informative when I started looking 12-13 years ago for a replacement of our Bounder. Johnny T (RIP) did a good job of pulling together info, and you'll see other input too.

I wish you luck, and hope someone with more knowledge on those era CC's can help you. For sure, as you start digging deeper into specific coaches, post with questions on them.

Hope you are traveling safely soon, and have a blast,
Smitty
