Title: Inspire 2004 slide components
Post by: Eagleman on April 17, 2021, 01:56:55 am
I have a 2004 Inspire 36 with 4 slides.  The galley slide will extend with no problem, but it will only clatter when trying to retract.  Can only retract by a combination of pressing the retract button and wrenching on the square tube shaft.  Tried reversing the leads at the motor but get the same results.  I'm guessing the Power Gear #521976 motor assembly is not repairable and will have to get a new motor.  If the new motor doesn't work then I'll need a GOOD shop in the Norfolk, Virginia or eastern North Carolina to fix the slide.

My question is: where is/are the controllers and/or relays to control the slides?  I've looked all over and since I don't know exactly what they look like might not recognize them when I seem them.  Does anyone have a part number for the relays so I can google them for reference? Any suggestions for a new motor?

There are likely relays only, I don't think the Inspires had controllers for the slides.  My '04 Inspire Genoa has a simple 3-way switch for each of the slides.  I've read if you don't release the switch as soon as the room is open/closed it can break gears quickly.  By comparison my previous '97 Newmar Mountain Aire had a controller; push the button and it opens/closes until it detects the current increase in the motor indicating it is at the end of travel.
The Inspires are entry-level units with lots of cost-cutting measures.
