Dick: I replaced my inverter with a Freedom 458D. If you look in Yahoo Groups Photos, under Larry's.....
(I apologize for not doing a better job of organizing the pictures) you will see the replacement project
I blamed my inverter woes on the dirty environment it had. Who knows for sure if that was right. I actually had the thing out twice. Once to send it to the factory under warranty. The second time to drop it from a two story building and watch it smash on the ground. I would work if I rapped on the front panel with a broom handle every few days.
As you can see in the photos, I sealed off the vent holes in the back of the compartment and replaced the front panel with a vented system. I can see the breakers without having to open the little door.
I haven't had a hiccup out of it since then. The only change I have had since taking those photos was to change the batteries for the chassis back to factory installed type, deep cycle with more cranking power.
I surfed the web and found a few sites that offered the Inverter. As I recall, I ended up with a Marine Supply Co. out of Florida. I can't recall the name now.

Good luck.

I was only kidding. It's sitting on a shelf in my garage. I'd love to have someone use it. What part of the country do you live in?
