Title: Wiring for tow vehicle was set up with Air Brakes,, and I have Electric Brakes
Post by: markshavitz on February 29, 2024, 10:03:24 pm
On an Allure 2008 Hood River did Country Coach prewire for towing a trailer with electric brakes?  The previous owner says he had air brakes.  And when we went on our first ride all hooked up to our trailer, the brakes on the trailer were LOCKED.  What needs to be done to get things working right?

You must add an electric brake controller to the circuit. otherwise, the electric brakes are full on every time the brake lights are activated, brake pedal, engine brake, parking brake, etc.

Thanks for the response.
Do you have a recommendation of a manufacturer?  Or is the Curt wireless a good option?

I have no experience with Curt or a wireless, sorry.  We have a wired Tekonsha.  It works well.

We use a air brake system on the towed vehicle and, the brake controller on the occasional tow of the cargo trailer.
