Title: Yahoo problems

Hi, New Guy here, sorry to gripe but this Yahoo site is driving me nuts.

This is a great group and being a new owner of a CC I need LOTS of info, already learned a bunch, that said, I have a real hard time with Yahoo. Often I am not allowed on the forum, it asks for my pass word and will repeat the request over and over never accepting my pass word, I have no problems at
other times, first try works fine.
Some time the forum section is OK but if I try to move around in the site as in selecting 'photos', back to the 'o'what's your pass word' stuff.

Is there a fix or is Yahoo that screwed up? My last coach had a forum here in Yahoo that I never did get into to use and Yahoo tech would never reply to my question, so I gave up, I don't want to do that again.

I hate to sound like the griping newbie, but this is not fun.
HELP PLZ.
Thanks, Larry

tbeer45,

Frequent several yahoo boards with no problems. May be on your end.

Larry, you may probably never find out the source of the problem. I can't check my Yahoo mail without logging out and back in, go figure.
Try creating a new Yahoo id, join the board again with that id, and see if it will remember your password.

Steve, I have talked to others about the problem ---different sites---and they complain as well. I wonder if it has to do with our ISP.

Some browsers allow you to remember usernames and passwords for you.
I suspect that when you first entered them, the browser asked you if it should remember them for you (they're stored on your disk in some semi-secure way). If you answered YES (remember), but you entered an incorrect UN/PW, you'll have trouble logging in every time.

I use the Mozilla browser, and tools->password-manager allows me cancel some/all of the stored passwords.
Don't know what it is on the M/S explorer, but I'd suspect they have a similar way of maintaining the password file. Come to think of it, I believe the Windows OS has some method of doing it (likely through the Control Panel). With M/S it often depends on your version of windows..

Henk, thanks for the reply. It's really not a matter of Yahoo remembering passwords, it's more that Yahoo does not accept the current password. It's a 50/50 shot that I can do anything on the site due to my password being accepted. Yahoo has this a habit of asking for a password at odd times , to assure my security they claim, and that is the problem.

I also have occasional problems with Yahoo not accepting my password as I try to check my Yahoo email account. I have to log out, and back again, even though I am using the same login and password, go figure.

Larry & Bill,

I have also had the problems you both mentioned. I personally do not care for the Yahoo format and I like the suggestion of switching over to the new CC website. Much more user-friendly

Hi Folks,

The fundanmental issue is what is the solution to a specific computer and windows product, its settings, browser used and Yahoo groups requirements - what is the universal solution for bug free (frustration free) operation! There is none - it's how you set each one up along with the age of your computer. My cheap solution over the years is to stay up with new releases - the cheapest way to solve most problems on many issues. Buy a 3+ Ghz computer with windows XP, use MSN, Netscape or Opera browser (what I use) and your problems are gone for awhile!
