Do any of you have experience with the "Full Cost Replacement" benefit offered by companies like Progressive? My State Farm agent doesn't offer that (they just use Fair Market Value at time of problem). There must be some "devil's-in-the-details" pertaining to this type of coverage. Comments please.

I have taken out a Progressive policy for my new coach. They seemed to be much more competive for the higher cost units compared to others. The full replacement clause is for 5 years at full replacement, year 6 and beyond the replacement is based on the actual purchase price of the motorhome at the time you bought it. I have found that over the years of MH ownership that it is always better for cost and coverage not to use my regular car insurance company.
The MH is just to hard for them and you can not get the unlimited towing and some of the other features offered in the Progressive policy. I have not found any weird details in these policys.
Good luck

Another option for Big Rig Insurance is the Good Sam VIP insurance program, which actually GMAC insurance, but it's RV and Motorhome sensitive. They also have the five year replacement as part of their policy...and I find no funny clauses...another advantage of the GMAC one is that you can "reduce" the policy to minimums while in storage, such as in the winter or sickness..You just can not drive on the road until you reinstate the over the road part. It drops the policy to about one third while in storage. It takes one phone call to get it started up again.....

By the way, if you have a toad and all you do is use it for towing, you can also "put it in winter storage"....interesting huh????...

These folks were cheaper for me in Tn., by about half, over Progressive, just for info....Progressive did have the reducing deductible though, but since GMAC was so much cheaper, I just took $250 deductible....

Guess it just depends on where you are. My quote today from Good Sam (GMAC) was exactly double the same coverage with Progressive.

Another option is Explorer RV Insurance, they saved me quite a bit over RV Alliance.

Try Gilbert RV Insurance in Orlando, FL (888) 784-6787.[/tt] We met them over a year ago at FMCA - Indio. Their quote on our coach (including Full Replacement Coverage) was over $1000 less than coverage we had with RV Alliance.

I am definitely shopping. My quote from RV Alliance came in yesterday and the premium nearly TRIPLED!!! As far as I know, I am limited to RV Alliance and Progressive because I have to have coverage in Mexico. But, Progressive does not cover full-timers--so I just may not be full-time anymore! I just bought another house.

Ree, Progressive does have full-timers coverage. We have it on our coach since we "moved" from CA to SD. Give Miller Insurance a call.

Ree You might want to get a quote from the following web site. I saved $500 on my full timers insurance through this site. Go to
www.roamingtimes.com click on INSURANCE then RV Insurance Professionals and On Line Quote. Then answer the question and you will receive a quote within 24 hours. I ended up with INA Insurance Group of North America. The coverage was much higher at a lower rate.
They also provide Mexican insurance. As a matter of fact they write Mexican insurance for Adventure Caravans.

I'm not sure if I can do this, but as a CC owner, I also own an insurance agency that represents Progressive for RV insurance. Progressive does have the Stated or Full Value option as well as the Mexico coverage. If it's ok with Bill Harris, you can call me. I'll wait for hsi rely to see if it's ok with him

I changed from Progressive to RV Alliance a few years ago when I was told that as a full-timer, if I had a claim it would be denied. Maybe it is just in specific states that full-timers are not covered. When I applied for the coverage, I told them I was full-time and they wrote it, but later said that it was not valid.
